    Build for my brother.

My brother has asked for some assistance in building a PC. I figured what better place to ask than here, as I've gotten a ton of good advice from you all in the past.

He basically wants an inexpensive computer that will allow him to run games (Mainly DayZ Standalone, Arma 2: DayZ Mod and Arma 3 and also allow him to do some streaming all while not breaking the bank. I told him around 6-800$ US most likely. Do you guys think he can get away with a cheaper rig if he wants to do those things?

Probably with AMD chip and using integrated GPU.
    PM me weird stuff :3

For that kind of money, you can build something like this. For such a cheap build you'll need to make use of all the mail in rebates and so on.

This is just a rough quick build I threw together for pricing, do some more research on parts/price/performance before making a purchase. Also it's barebones, does he need anything else, like windows or peripherals?

No. The key reason being that you'll have to compensate for the APU in an AMD build with much higher-speed RAM to get the best performance.

This is around the minimum I'd recommend:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

    CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($229.98 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($24.99 @ Newegg)
    Motherboard: ASRock Z97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($99.99 @ Newegg)
    Memory: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($77.24 @ Amazon)
    Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($52.91 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Superclocked Video Card ($139.99 @ Micro Center)
Case: Thermaltake Commander MS/I Snow Edition (White/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($34.99 @ Micro Center)
Power Supply: Rosewill Hive 550W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($39.50 @ Newegg)
    Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer ($14.98 @ OutletPC)
    Total: $714.57

That's $800 before discounts/rebates. If you're lucky enough to have a Microcenter close by, then I'd recommend getting one of their Intel combos for the above.

For an APU build, I'd be looking at something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

    CPU: AMD A10-7850K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor ($169.96 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($24.99 @ Newegg)
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3H ATX FM2+ Motherboard ($67.49 @ Newegg)
    Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory ($86.99 @ Newegg)
    Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($52.91 @ OutletPC)
Case: Thermaltake Commander MS/I Snow Edition (White/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($34.99 @ Micro Center)
Power Supply: Rosewill Hive 550W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($39.50 @ Newegg)
    Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer ($14.98 @ OutletPC)
    Total: $491.81
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Now, that has the potential for a GPU upgrade, but it's unlikely to be able to stream and game to begin with, although it is likely to be able to play most games at low 1080p settings.

Can IU ask why you'd consider pairing an overclockable CPU with a non-overclockable motherboard (in the Intel example)?

I was under the impression that the H81M could now support OCing the unlocked anniversary edition.

Yeah, He just doesn't have a lot of money to spend. He has 2 kids after all lol.

This is what I came up with for a final build. I'd like some advice on it. I guess he needs everything, so if you see anything that's off or might need changed let me know.
