I don't know. I mean, some companies refuse to hire people based on their region in Sweden alone, because they think the customers don't want to hear their accent. Mainly sales companies doing that. As for based on name, can't say I've had any problems despite my foreign last name. Nor have any of my friends who are foreigners. Anecdotal, yeah.

Surely the hiring based upon region is illegal?

Or is it allowed in the way that attractive people are specifically hired, that type of gig?

Scanian is sounding somewhat similar to danish in some aspects. Gothenburgish accent is awful and makes me cringe so bad that I refuse to talk to anyone who has that accent. I can't even understand some of the northern accents if they're really thick.

Looking back, my question was mildly retarded, naturally who you know will influence how you'll be chosen or given preference.

I suppose a better question would be, how do names play into the selection, i know you can't legally discriminate, but nonetheless i remember hearing it occurring.

Can never know for sure since companies aren't forced to disclose the reason for accepting or declining applicants. Most academic jobs seem to be predominantly white male dominated. Hospitals hire a lot of foreign doctors of all genders(I'm fairly certain they have quotas to fill. But that's just an assumption.). When it comes to manual labor(Welders, assembly lines, construction) you tend to see just as many non-natives as you do natives, at some places there are even more immigrants than natives.

Seriously, it's no surprise that the worker class is left-leaning. They're the biggest group in Sweden you know. They don't have much to gain by voting for the Sweden Democrats or Reinfeldt & co. The left party & the social democrats are closer to the worker class' interests.

To be fair the current immigration is a green party coallition decision that was made with the Moderate party. The general road of it started before Reinfeldt was first elected when the SocialDemocrat led Riksdag clubbed the decision that "Sweden is now a multi-cultural society". Khuzard is also right, but probably not for the reasons he thinks. The main reason behind so many red youth acting the way they do is that we entirely skip pretty much all Socialist wrongdoings throughout history. Mao isn't part of our curriculum, the crimes of the Soviet Union under Stalin isn't mentioned either, he's merely considered a "good guy" who helped beat the nazis. We actually had people who lived in and missed the Soviet Union come talk to us in school about how great the Soviet Union was and we should all work to re-establish a communist society.

This general glorification of Socialism and Communism means that these misguided youth who might just as well have been violent nazis or joined some other fringe extremist group gravitate towards leftist policies and see themselves as some manner of soldiers of good when in fact they are the most serious threat towards democracy in Sweden at this point. The lack of outrage at violence against people of differing opinions from higher up doesn't exactly help either. When Sweden Democrats were physically attacked Reinfeldt said something along the lines of "People who's politics puts a split between us and them should expect stuff like this to happen". Which is ironic since the same group would realistically have no problems with attacking neither Reinfeldt nor his party members for the very same reason.
