    Question about Challenge modes.

I'm looking to run Challenge Modes on my main and alts and I'm curious as to what I would need to change on my characters. I'd rather not dump an absurd amount of gold on carries and would rather do them with groups I find from Oqueue or here even.

    My characters: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...thare/advanced

    http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...erray/advanced

    http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...Useil/advanced

    http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...sster/advanced

    http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...dorfv/advanced

    http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...rnoux/advanced

I know it's a lot of characters, but I want to accomplish getting CM gear on all of my 90s XD

A large amount of the succes criteria from challenge modes comes from knowing what is needed where. When you need invis potions, what groups are tough and some of the little gimmicks that can get you through the dungeons faster.

    That and an elemental shaman.

As for what you do with your characters, basicly the best think you can do is find gear with as many gems slots as possible. You dont need to spend a lot of gold on it.

Most gem slots come from ToT or SoO

So I'll have to run lfr ToT or SoO on my chars correct?

honestly, if you know how to play the class you're good to go, i've done it with people who literally boosted the char to 90, maybe enchanted some of the gear and we have gotten 9/9 very quickly, ofc we have done it multiple times before that. As long as all of your gear is 463+ enchanted, gemmed, and you have knowledge of the class you should be fine. Try to find people who have knowledge of the dungeons, or watch videos of people doing them. They seem challenging at first, but if all you're doing is going for gold, they are fairly easy.

I play at well on all of my toons i think,I'm just not sure if there are any definite changes that I must partake in.

pvp gear might be seen as a deterrent for some groups, so you could try and get pve gear for all of ur toons, but its definately doable in pvp gear, just might be harder to find a group willing to take you, since some people have a bias toward think pvp gear cant be used for pve at all

Oh boy, lots of lfr inc i guess

For gear you must have a helm with a normal meta gem and some decent trinkets. The rest of it isn't much of a problem as long as you play well.

PvP gear isn't too bad, it only got like 3 sockets less than SoO gear. More noticable will be the missing socket bonuses, which are mostly PvP related on PvP gear (duh!). You got lots of melee DPS in you list, which is bad - nobody wants melee DPS in challenge modes. The best would be to spec them to tanks, which will get you into groups much easier - otherwise you'll pretty much have to open your own groups with them.

Spec you shaman to elemental. CM groups love elemental shamans. Thanks to you bloodlust/heroism and chain lightning groups will even take you without experience. It's also pretty easy to play, since it's mostly about spamming chain lightning. After that get a group with your warlock. CM groups love warlocks. Not as much as elementals, but still a lot.
Now, with 2x 9/9 gold you're in a much better position for your melee dps (when you chose not to spec them to tank), and can actually demand 9/9 experience when you open up your own groups.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've finished a few CMs with a few friends who aren't the best players alongside some horrible gear. We had a Prot War (me), Holy Paladin, Arms War, Rogue and a Survival Hunter. Not the best group at all especially when you take into account their gear and experience. Tank DPS can be really high in CMs and that's what carried our group.

If you know or read up on the mechanics and know how to play your class then you should be fine. Having said that, certain classes can make it easier and the more gem slots the better. Don't forget though that it will probably take a few tries if you're in a group that's new to them.

You really don't have to do much if anything to optimize your gear for CMs. If you play your class decently and learn the strats for CMs you'll be fine. Obviously the more gem slots the better, along with gear that has the best stat(s) for your class then better you'll do, but getting gold doesn't require anything but knowledge of your class and the time to learn the strats/pulls.

PVP gear works just fine too (outside of trinkets of course). The main problem with PVP gear in CMs is getting random groups to take you with it.

I think what he means is that there are some items that drop from ToT/SoO that provide the most number of sockets. For instance, there are some really nice 3 socket pants that drop off of Lei Shen and additionally, the heirlooms that drop from Garrosh have 2 sockets. Some combinations from Garrosh heirlooms are quite strong. For instance Doomblade (2 sockets) paired with another Doomblade or even the Shield Wall (also 2 sockets) give you 4 total sockets which is a rarity compared to other weapons or weapon/shield combos.

The only thing that would come close would be a ToT weapon with 1 socket which you add a prismatic socket via the legendary questline's eye of the black prince.
