Overall a really nice encounter, it was a lot of fun to do. I think it's fairly spot-on tuning wise, at least it was for our 10-man group (maybe slightly overtuned for a normal/wod heroic boss).
Interesting mechanics, kind of like spoils, but without the boring. So many phases and so many things to do throughout all the phases without having a complicated concept.
I agree, I feel like this is just a better spoils fight, I enjoyed having to deal with all the different adds, and then killing adds on other adds to kill those adds, and then going into a burn. I feel like this was a mix of Spoils, Spine of Deathwing, and then Galakras.
