Actually yes: Whenever I play a supposedly "dark & mature" game like the Elder Scrolls, I quite honestly feel too old for that childish digital-manure (It's quite litterally the Dragonlance Trilogy as a video game, with half the cliche quest villians replaced wit humanoid; all experienced in a bland color pallete).

But I feel too young to play Minecraft, Space Engineers, and Kerbal Space Program: my limited mind is still - after a couple decades - not smart enough to make awesome creations like the stuff shown on the front page of the workshop. I honestly am clueless as to how they do it!

At some point in your life you wont have time to play video games. That's when you know you are too old to play video games.

On July 1, 1984, Doris Self made video game history when, at the age of 58, she gained recognition as the "world's oldest video game champion." As a competitor on Q*Bert at Twin Galaxies 1984 Video Game Masters Tournament, Doris scored a world record mark of 1,112,300 points on Twin Galaxies' Tournament Settings (TGTS) -- the most difficult settings that allow for only five-men in the game.[4][5][6]

My parents are 60+ and both play video games.

It's childish to play them all the time though, I'll give you that.

not having time to play video games does not corelate with being too old. bill gates is 58 years old and probably has all the time in the world to do what ever he wants. he just chooses to spend alot of time in 3rd world contries doing philanthropic work.

I don't think anyone is really too old to play a video game. Honestly, age really is just a number and I firmly believe that people who force themselves to act like an adult age much faster both physically and mentally than those who aren't afraid to sit back and do what they find fun regardless of their age.

I'm pretty sure I'll still play video games when I'm retired

I'm 30 and still going strong, I no longer do those 16 hour sessions in weekends but I do raid 3 times a week. As long as it doesn't compromise anything real life, you can keep on going, after all it's just a hobby, like fixing up an old car, collecting stamps or flying those toy airplanes. I will never stop at least, but I got no problem taking a 2-3 week vacation with my family and don't touch a computer

depends what else you are doing with your life.

a guy from my guild had 2 kids under 4 years old but was still logging like 5 hours a day on WoW, unsure how his wife felt about it, that's the kind of gaming problem that leads to failed relationships

I'm 52 and my Husband is 56 and we both still play games. The only issue is I need more sleep now than I did back in the days I was addicted to Doom

    FTFM.

I think the aging process changes which video games we play. My brother used to love building computes and playing racing games and such. Now, it's all about the mobile device because he has a family.

Age won't diminish love for games, but it will make you play them utilizing time more efficiently.

I reckon once you hit mid 20's, you should stop playing them. Same goes with watching stuff like anime/cartoons. It's something you do in your teenage years, not when you're an adult and have proper responsibilties

im a fully grown adult. im 23, i have a full time job as a firewall technician. i live on my own and pay all my own bills. i spend my free time playing videos games, watching movies, and DnD.

The average age of someone who plays games is 31 years old. In fact, more gamers are over the age of 36 than between the ages of 18 to 35 or under the age of 18. They are also mostly men, but by a slimming margin. Men make up 52 percent.

    No, you're not.

Since when has age been the defining factor in what we do?

Do we drink just because we're age appropriate? Fuck no. We do it because we enjoy it.

Anyone who adopts the idea that we do things because we're 'old enough' to do it, ought to get their heads checked. And see a psychologist.

How can I be too old to enjoy something? In fact as I've gotten older and have my own income I've been able to enjoy games even more by being able to explore a wider variety of genres. It's pretty much how I spend time with my friends by either playing online or some couch play by taking turns playing older games.

My friends and I Lan regularly, including both private and public events. We're mostly in our early-late 30's with a few older guys in their 50's. The one thing we've noticed over the years is that we just can't keep up with a lot of the kids today. But I don't think that's so much us being older, but more how gaming has evolved.

As you get older, you (generally) don't have the time to devote hours and hours into perfecting one single game like those who treat it as a sport, so the skill gap is much bigger than I remember it being when everyone was just a social gamer. I remember Lans in the late 90's where most clans competed in most tournaments. Today, they all seem to dedicate to one single game and play the shit out of it!
