what do you love the best about swtor?

so many people say that its a wow clone but i feel like its a million times better than wow, heres what i like the best

-getting a companion, makes questing SO much smoother, also fun to do their stories as well.

-everything is so rich in story content, voiced cinematics, etc

-i like how the dailies in swtor are the same everyday so you can do them quickly and they are really rewarding, I can buy everything i need/want just by doing planet quest dailies, where as in wow dailies took forever and had very little reward - like in swtor pvp daily u can do just 1 match if u win and 2 matches if u lose, but in wow it had to be a certain match and you HAD to win.

    -its STAR WARS!! (given)

In general I feel like swtor is much more player friendly with the way you dont have to worry about not knowing where to go and since the cartel bonuses came out with all the quick travels, it just feels really good.
    jedi? dark jedi!

    Class storytelling.

I like how it got me so hyped and excited for a game, because I love Star Wars and it looked really promising. It taught me to never over-hype myself again, when it turned out to be the biggest dissapointment in the history of gaming.

I like how it had no end-game content worth doing, so I could easily focus on my exams that semester when it came out.

I like how it's made me save money, by making it abundantly clear that I should never spend another penny on it.

coruscant. from the first time i saw coruscant, i have been in love with that planet. it's just the coolest damn thing ever in my mind, and any time i log back in to swtor, it's usually just to run around coruscant.

Then why agonize over it and hover in the Swtor section of the forums, if this game touched your no-no places move on with your life. Some of us still play and enjoy this game.

Doing the main story missions and the fact that for the most part I can solo everything in the game, this lets me RP as my chosen class more than any other MMO I've played. I also love their transmog system.

    Skill animations.

That's the only reason I redownload client to play with my Vengeance Jugg and Concealment Op. Going back to Arms Warrior really crushes my soul - that god damn unbelievably shitty Slam animation compared Shatter/Impale, just so bad, WoW u so old. And Force Charge compared to Charge. Ehhhhhh.

    The class storyline.

Which, unfortunately, is why I quit. At level cap, with the stories finished, it felt empty and nothing else held me to the game. But the class storylines were awesome. I still maintain the position that SWTOR would have done better as a single player RPG.

For some players certainly, but single-player RPGs don't keep making hundreds of millions of dollars every year. A single-player game would have definitely been more cohesive (and had other advantages), but it also likely would have had half the dialogue and a quarter of the planets because the budget would have been much smaller.

Story telling is definitely the highlight. I also love how the environments portray the story and pre-story of the game. For example, the sith empire was chased out of known space thousands of years ago. When you go to Dromund Kaas, you see a small capital city which seems like its just now beginning to push out into the wild around. The feel of an empire rebuilding and licking its wounds. To me it shows the attention to detail of events prior to the game. This happens on multiple planets throughout the game as well.
Thank You Shyama for the sig again!!

don't want to bash just show the facts but if it was better then it didnt lose 80% of its subs in first 2 months of release.

you do know that wow has lost around 80% of whoever has played the game also, yes it has its faults like all MMOs but its still very enjoyable to the minority of the community which prefers the star wars universe over WoW.

The Stories are amazing, The classes are fun to play, PvP feels much better than WoW's, Companions are great.

Space Missions are fun as hell and Galactic Starfighter is EXTREMELY fun.

likely the one MMO that has immersed me more than any other.

this for me as well. Im a huge star wars fan and a huge fan of Knights of the old republic which swtor is based on and it ended up being a wow clone on a horrible engine.

What I loved about the game is the class stories, the sound effects , the ocasional times kotor music would play, but I didnt like much else.

Why is there no auto attack? Why is it like wow where theres 40 spells you have to throw on your action bar? Why are the classes so similar to classes in wow? Why are there so few classes?

Why do I have to unlock new races or pay to access them with cartel coins?

I also dont appreciate everyone being able to dress up as Darth malak or Bastila from kotor.

They should of chose a different engine and allowed for more Alien Races to be playable, all the races have the same bodies, same animations and Bioware says its an engine limitation and it would screw up the romance quests if you could be say a selkath.

My dreams of being a Selkath bounty hunter or Iridorian were quickly shot down. Fine thats fine I was willing to shut up and just play a human cyborg. The class story was great but the end game sucked it was boring and the gameplay is far too similar to wow.

This game taught me to never overhype anything again and that all MMOS were doomed to copy wow and fail. Most disappointing game I have ever played in my life.

It had a lot of potential but EA and Bioware failed miserably, they spent all the money on the voice acting and sound effects, the game looks like crap and plays like crap and too many talents and abilities were copied from wow.

there should of been far more unique classes that didnt mirror each other across the 2 factions.

Gear Head/Tech Specialist (both factions) Healer or Dps Based on the Gear head feat from kotor, Garage Heads from the Vulkar base in kotor, Bao Dur's class in Kotor 2 this class would be an engineer using temporary droids, blasters and other tech weapons.

Soldier (both factions)Tank, dps Uses explosives, shielding, heavy blaster cannons and repeating blaster rifles and vibroblades

Jedi Knight only available to republic dps or tanking , Uses 2 sabers or a double saber and focuses on melee combat

Jedi Consular only available to the republic Dps or healing , Uses force powers, stealth and some melee

Smuggler (Both factions)Dps, healer , uses blasters and tech

Assassin(Both factions)dps, tank , uses sniper rifles and vibroblades can be either melee, a bith of both or pure ranged

Bounty Hunter(Both Factions) 1 spec for tanking, 2 for dps- one focusing on gadgets the other duel wielding and missiles.

Sith Lord(Empire only)Healing, dps same as consular with different spells

Sith marauder(empire only)Tank, dps same as jedi knight but with different non mirroring spells

they copped out to do as few class stories as possible which would never be expanded upon after going f2p and losing so much of their staff plus the entire austin branch.

Zzzz it is a thread call "what do you love best", "why do you hate this game. make another thread for that shit so we don't have to read it.

The PvP actually draws me back a lot more often than I expected. Warzones are fun at all levels. I love the tanking/guard mechanic (since so few games do this) and the devs have a achieved a pretty decent balance (by MMO standards). The gear gap in most games drives me crazy and I actually like bolster a lot.

After dumping WildStar I figured "what the hell" and actually tried TOR again. TOR's class stories are just as good as I remembered. When I'm playing a Sith Warrior? I feel like I'm playing a Sith Warrior. I also really like how the ability animations look like they have weight behind them and that parry and deflect shots with your lightsaber thing. Of course the other side of it is that the class stories are exactly as I remembered. The game is so linear and so short that it can actually be frustrating.

I think this is the only game I've ever played where, years later, I still find myself missing what it could have been.

Star Wars universe is all it had for me. I really wish it had more, and didn't go the extreme theme park route.
