Is 4chan a dangerous website? Have you been there?

I've heard the rumors surrounding it like the numerous homicides and mass hacking attacks on other websites. As a result, I've never visited it once in my life for the fear of my own safety but people talk about it a lot for some reason.

Have any of you visited it once before? What's it like?

he was kidding, its just an image board. Literally nothing will happen to you if you go there, its a popular site it has an Alexa rank higher than this one I believe. It has a bad reputation for gross and un-moderated amounts of NSFW content but it really depends on what board you're on. Most of them are perfectly fine.

It's pretty safe in general but as with any website there are people with the resources to pretty much track you down and kill you if they really wanted to. Besides the occasional pornography involving minors there are no risks to worry about that are exclusive to 4chan.

Most of the users are just regular people.

As long as you keep your personal information to yourself it would be very unlikely for you to get in harm's way, but as I mentioned earlier in this thread there is ALWAYS a risk.

I've never heard of someone murdering someone else because of 4chan. The worst thing that has ever happened was child porn being posted and some hacking of large bank sites and Sarah Palin's email. It's rare but the only people who this affects are the people that do it, not everyone who has the site in their search history.

Iv been going to it for well over 8 years and nothing bad has happened except im not phased by anything i see on the net anymore.
