If it's wrong for a black-majority community to have a white mayor...

Then is it also wrong for a white-majority area, such as the United States, to have a black president?

I do not believe there is anything inherently wrong with either, but one of my friends has stated on a few occasions now that it is "racist" for Ferguson to have a white mayor. He seems to believe that because the majority of the population is black, then they shouldn't be allowed to have a white mayor. If that's true, then does that mean there is something inherently wrong with a white-majority area to have a black leader?

Why is either option wrong? It is the 21st century, people should stop judging people by skin colour and judge them by their own merits.

And is it normal for a heterosexual majority to have a homosexual mayor?
Is it normal for a tall majority to have a midget as mayor?

I got more. I can go all day.

If he's democractically elected then nothing is wrong.

Here we have a thread of white people offended over something some racist black person said.
The key difference is that the white people in this thread aren't being told "shut up stop being offended get over it."

Totally wrong, I mean if they didn't vote for Mr. T then clearly there was vote fixing involved.

this post may not be entirely serious

Ehhh, the Mayor issue, and City Council issue were some of the dumber things I read that was brought out of all this. If they were elected they were elected, anyone has the chance to run and I know from my own home town it is not unheard of for groups of people to pool together funds to run someone if the person individually lacks the funds.
As to your question, no it is completely fair in both senses. As long as fair elections were held, and people had the legit chance to vote.

Probably just trying to be politically correct/sensitive so hard that it foregoes all reason.

Why would the color of their skin make a difference?

The irony of course is that if race was really that big of a deal, why didn't a black person win? If the community is that interested in the race of their mayor, why would they let a white dude win the race?

    What a load of malarky.

Yeah this is just going to bait the community into a discussion we really don't need or want.
