    Well if it takes you 10 mins to sew on a button then that is not quick, so many people will give you weird and wonderful advice but it is simple shit like being good at sewing and ironing that will make your life much easier. And seriously learn all the ranks from every branch, never get caught out if you don't want to be beasted.

    British Army hands out merit badges like scouts; there's sewing/needlework, laundry, animal husbandry, basketweaving and nature walk badges up for grabs!
