    Invert mouse?

I just tested Archeage open beta only to find out the game has NO invert mouse option (Y-axis). It is the first (3D character control/first person) game I have ever encountered not to include that option. Needless to say my beta test lasted somewhere around 2 minutes.

I have always (25+ years) played with inverted mouse and can't play without it.

What about you? Invert or non-invert?

You mean when you move the mouse up, your arrow moves down? That's sick. Non-invert.

    Non-invert. That's just weird, man. You're a freak!

Much like those who were left-handed in the middle ages, inverters in the internet age were believed to be possessed by a demon.

Inverted is the "normal" and logical way. Hence it was the default setting long time ago. Somewhere during 90's or early 2000's normal became the default and kids learned the wrong and unnatural way to control their characters in games.

Unless it's a flight simulator or something similar inverted mouse makes zero sense to me.

You are moving the head of your character, which is inverted control in real life.

I have been searching a long time for the proper way to put this into words. Glad someone has done it.

    This. I agree with this.

Always aggravated me when a group of us were playing Golden Eye when... god I'm getting old.... and someone would hand me the controller with the screwed up y-axis.

Yes but I am "attached" to it. It's not like there's a stick attached to the back of my head to articulate its movements. Where as with a plane or something, it makes sense in relation to your perspective. That's how I feel about it anyway.

If left is left, and right is right.... why should up be down?

What if I feel more like I'm moving my nose, not the top of my head?

My mouse pad is the screen. I want to see down, i put my mouse down. Plain obvious.

First person and flight simulators, I do inverted. Normal otherwise.

I remember I use to always use inverted, but even playing with kids my age back then I was still the only one that used inverted. They use to give me shit for it because I always had to change it and they had to change it back. I could never do normal it was just so backwards for me, but I guess I stayed away from FPS's for so long that I can only do normal now. With a controller at least, inverted mouse just sounds crazy.

Only one game where I preferred inverted, Sins of a Solar Empire.

Don't most operating systems have the option to invert you mouse? A gaming mouse too - will usually have software that can do it.

I play inverted cause it feels natural. If my head goes back, my eyes go up, so I see up. So if I move my mouse back, I should see up. It feels weird to me any other way.

It can equally be said that you are moving your focus and the mouse mat is your field of vision. That is how I've always thought of it and is the "normal" way to me.

There is no right or wrong way.

My first '3D' games were flight sims, where pushing forward meant lowering the aircraft's nose. Inverted.
