I'm female and I refuse to date anyone who isn't a gamer. I just can't. Video games are an integral part of my life and that's all there is to it. Nothing makes me happier than when I'm with my significant other and we're either playing co-op or alone but spending time with each other.

I truly feel bad for guys when their girlfriends don't game. It really breaks my heart because video gaming is an art and it's beautiful.

The secret to life is to not be so caught up with other people's achievements. Yes, there are other people who are more successful than me, have more money, etc. The thing is...I don't give a shit. I am happy and quite comfortable where I am now with my family. Sure, I guess I could be cultivating shit to make more money or stuff, but frankly that is not my priority right now...so I have no problem gaming.

If you are always comparing yourself to other more successful people you will never be happy.

........since there will always be someone more successful than you..
You'd die trying to beat others. and life itself evaded you.

Nope. I firmly believe in "me time" and having time for hobbies and what not, whether together or separate.

does she feel bad when she sits down to watch her soap opera's on TV ?
How about when she goes out with her friends on a girly night out ?

if you are in a relationship, then she will know what your hobbies are, and unless you take them to the extreme where you spend no time with her because of your gaming, then there is not a problem.

Exactly. I could stress to keep up with my peers, but why bother? I like my life, and they are not any happier than I am.

Nope, my husband is a gamer as well. I don't play as many games as he does but I don't care what he does with his free time and he doesn't care what I do with mine, as long as it isn't illegal or cheating. I figure, we both work full time and take care of the house etc so free time is just that free time, to do whatever we want. He is bigger into games than I am but why should either of us feel bad for doing something we enjoy? I tend to watch more TV, should I feel bad about it? No.

If I had a girlfriend or wife (/cry ) I would feel bad. I play games to get out of reality. And in doing that I would be getting away from her.

Everyone's got their outlet to do in their spare time, be it playing a sport or a hobby, or gaming...

If you've been way too absorbed in your gaming, then obviously you need to lessen that... else you've got a problem there. To completely void of an activity you enjoy, just because you're in a relationship, is just plain out daft, and honestly seems selfish on the other's part...

There's this thing called moderation. That goes for ANYTHING - not just gaming...

So you're like the reverse of 80% of women.

I'm not criticising, but it sounds like you just didn't have a compatible partner. When you have someone that you love being around and talking to it's a lot different.

This is pretty much the answer to the thread, don't give it up just because she doesn't like it or you feel like it's childish, just do it in moderation so that you don't have any problems. If you do it in your spare time then there's no problem, if you do it instead of taking her out on a date then you're in trouble.

My girlfriend loves to play with me, or watch me play if it is 1 player, and the same applies to me. It works out really well, luckily!

Also depends how you define successful, most people think of money straight away and whilst that is a part, that's not all there is to it.

Kidding, I've no desire to be in any form of relationship, if I were, it would be one where gaming wasn't a problem.

No such thing. May work in 2 but once a kid drops in, it's all over, bub. Your freedom is done.

Sort of related to what I previously said, but it depends how much gaming you do. Few hours here and there on your own, no biggie, hardcore raiding 5 times a week? You're going to have a bad time.

I dislike people, I prefer solitude, unless my brain suddenly has a crash of crashiness, I have no desires either way /shrug
