I write a lot of fiction and find that listening to music really helps, especially if the music fits a particular scene i'm writing. Curious if other writers or even artists find themselves doing this

No, it distracts me. I end up singing and dancing instead.
It does, as long as it doesn't have lyrics I understand. Instrumentals are fine, vocals in a language I don't speak are fine, but I get distracted if I can understand what the singer is saying.
lyrics don't distract me
Only if it has no words.
Putin khuliyo
It depends. I tend to write a lot in my notebook. When I try to write on the computer I sometimes get distracted too easily.
When I'm copying over my stuff I tend to listen to trance mixes or video game music.
When editing I usually prefer silence.
Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.
So I chose the path of the Ebon Blade, and not a day passes where i've regretted it.
I am eternal, I am unyielding, I am UNDYING.
I am Zethras, and my blood will be the end of you.
Yeah I have the same problem, like right now I'm trying to reaching for something in the distance, so close you can almost taste it, release your inhibitions, feel the rain on your skin, noone else can feel it for you, only you can let it in. Noone else, noone else can speak the words on your lips. Drench yourself in words unspoken, live your life with arms wide open, today is, where your book begins - the rest is still unwritten.
Fucking Natasha Bedingfield yo. I'll hand my penis in to the nearest police station in the morning.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
Sometimes I like a dark room with absolute silence, sometimes I like a Chopin nocturne, sometimes I like Led Zeppelin. Whatever works.
Music doesn't help me do anything, not even driving lol. I am too much of a music geek and I will get way distracted and start singing and dancing. I always try to play music while sleeping and then I have to turn it off because I wont be tired.
My brother says I shouldn't drive and listen to music lol. I will gas and break to the beat of the music and I don't even notice lol.

I need silence to be able to write. I've tried to put on instrumental music that fits what I'm writing about, but that distracts me as well.
I usually end up writing in a notebook because I'm so easily distracted. Feels like I'm a dog and the internet is a car driving away.
Cave Cave Deus Videt
When I everything, I find that music helps.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
It's pronounced "Dur-av-ian."
I close my doors, my windows, turn off everything that can distract me, tell my fiance he is more than able to make sandwiches himself, and only then can I get down to work. So no, I have to have absolute and complete silence.
Same as others, only instrumental music. Lyrics distract me.
I listen to podcasts like twit, dian rheams show, pbs news hour podcast, etc.
When I'm working I block out the announcer until I hear something interesting. So my listening experience is like "earth quake", "train crash", "Facebook hacked", "bomb", etc.
