In the past, fixes have shown that they are not fans of people using previous tiers over current or far into current tiers. Most likely, the 2P would have been basically required for large combustions and maintaining high DPS, so they nerfed the tier for people to regear into the next one. Same thing happened to Arcane from T15 -> T16, and other sets in other tiers.

I have gotten tons of complaints about Fire. It is a shame, but understandable from Blizzard's end. They really should have just switched the bonuses from T17 to T18 and vice versa, but they most likely didn't have plans in place for what the T18 bonus was when they designed T17.

It would be really cool if they made it baseline but just nerfed the damage a bit if they REALLY needed too. Although it has some really crazy interactions with PC and Combustion so IDK if they ever would

Yeah I really miss the double inferno blasts ;(

I still love fire too much to play Arcane all the time.

You would have to give more information, as I haven't heard anything bout T16 2P. Judging by the fact that T16 was an expansion ago, I will assume no.

this is the line i saw it in. i assumed it was just for mages who had not replaced it with leveling gear. reason i doubtet it is cuz i heard some guild used a cata tier bonus to heal tsulon(that mop dragon boss) for 30% hp in one cast.

    RIP Fire....hello frost :/

I have 4 set t17, but they're only 670 ilevel. My non-tier pieces of higher ilevel give me 5% increased crit and 215 additional int and sp. Are the t17 set bonuses good enough to keep, even with such a loss in stats?

The 2 set was nerfed, and the 4 set went from amazing to above average. It is probably worth it just to break it and get it over with and start gearing into HFC. If you don't know 100%, just sim yourself with 4p and with your other gear and see which is higher.

Fire in mythic BRF is performing overall better than all other classes at the moment. Yeah, the amount of parses are small but still that should still say something. https://www.warcraftlogs.com/statistics/8

No, that doesn't really say much of anything. There are a handful of very good Fire mages who have put up some pretty good parses ... but there's a reason if you sort through the top mage parses on each individual fight you aren't seeing a lot of Fire for the most part.

Nice guide vale, it is sad that fire is not so good anymore in HFC.

    Here is what I use.
I raid as Fire on all the bosses, may not be ideal, but I find Fire to be competitive enough.

    Hellfire Assault
Talents – Greater In., LB, IF, Kind.
    Glyphs – Rapid D, Drag.Br, Inf.Bl
No Combustion Glyph – adds die to quick

    Iron Reaver
Talents – Greater In., BW, IF, Kind.
    Glyphs – Rapid D, Drag.Br, Combustion

    Kormrok
Talents – Greater In., BW, IF, Kind.
    Glyphs – Rapid D, Drag.Br, Combustion
Drag.Br + BW works well on hands.

    Kilrogg Deadeye
Talents –Cold Snap, BW, IF, Kind.
Glyphs – Rapid D, Ignite, Combustion
Ice Block prevents the Heart Seeker Debuff, Cold Snap gives 2 Ice Blocks.
Evanesce works really nice too. It also blocks the debuff, with a 45sec CD.
Ignite Glyph to slow adds if needed

    High Council
Talents – Greater In., BW, IF, Kind.
Glyphs – Rapid D, Drag. Br., Combustion

    Gorefiend
Talents – Greater In., BW, IF, Kind.
Glyphs – Rapid D, Ignite, Combustion
    Ignite Glyph to slow adds
Blink out of Touch of Doom

    Shadow-lord Iskar
Talents – Greater In., BW, IF, Kind.
Glyphs – Drag.Br, Inferno Bl., Combustion

    Socrethar the Eternal
Talents – Greater In., BW, IF, Kind.
Glyphs – Drag.Br, Inferno Bl., Combustion

    Tyrant Velhari
Talents – Greater In., BW, IF, Kind.
Glyphs – Drag.Br, Inferno Bl., Combustion

    Fel Lord Zakuun
Talents – Greater In., BW, IF, Kind.
Glyphs – Drag.Br, Inferno Bl., Combustion

    Xhul’horac
Talents – Greater In., LB, IF, Kind.
    Glyphs – Rapid D, Drag.Br, Inf.Bl
    Unglyphed Combustion for adds
Evanesce works really nice for taking out fire puddles.

    Mannoroth
Talents – Greater In., BW, IF, Kind.
    Glyphs – Rapid D, Drag.Br, Combustion

    Archimonde
Talents – Greater In., BW, IF, Kind.
    Glyphs – Rapid D, Drag.Br, Combustion

Could you maybe update the item list? It's still set to BRF gear.

I'm sticking with fire and found myself competing very well against both frost and arcane mages on the meters. I'm just really confused on what trinkets to choose for fire. I can't find anything viable when browsing the web either - please help?

    Go look at icyveins BisList.
Crit proc trinkets are your BiS.
    715 sandman's pouch
    Mythic goren soul repository

Don't care about double crit proc at opening. It's ok you might loose some of the crit benefit depending on the crit you already have on your stuff at the opening sequence... still, in all the rest of the encounter, they usually do not proc at the same time. Wich is better for maintaining a high dps.

You don't want to run both crit trinkets.
