Building a new PC, help needed

    What's up guys?

I'm going to be building a new gaming PC soon, and, seeing as I've never done so before, I'm fairly lost in terms of what I need and where to go. I'll keep this short and start by giving you some requests on what I'd like:

    • Budget - $900 - $1200
    • Resolution - 1920x1080
    • Games / Settings Desired - I play a wide array of games on my current rig, such as League of Legends and Guild Wars 2. However, in terms of graphical settings, I'm fine with Medium to High.
    • Any other intensive software - none
    • Country - U.S.A.
    • Parts that can be reused - PSU (maybe?)
    • Do you need an OS? - Yes, preferably Windows 7
    • Do you need peripherals? - no

I've compiled a list of potential components using chaud's setup of the month:

    • Cooler Master HAF 912 - Mid Tower Computer Case with High Airflow - $54.99
    • ASUS Z97-A ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z97-A - $144.99
    • G.Skill 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Ripjaws Series - $89.99
    • Intel Core i5-4690K Processor 3.5 GHz - $235.99
    • Noctua 6 Dual Heatpipe with 140mm/130mm Dual SSO Bearing Fans CPU Cooler - $79.99
    • EVGA GeForce GTX760 SuperClocked w/EVGA ACX Cooler 2GB GDDR5 256bit - $229.99
    • Rosewill 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Power Supply ATX12V / EPS12V 650 - $89.99 (I may be able to reuse my current PSU, which is a Corsair Pro Silver 1050X)
    • Western Digital 1 TB SATA III 7200 RPM - $78
    • Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive - $22

Total cost: $1025.93 before S/H. All prices from amazon.com

(Sorry for the lack of links; I've only just made this account and I'm not allowed to post links until I've made a few posts.)

Using a mix between the Narwhal and Unicorn configurations, I have come up with a configuration that I think is suitable for what I intend to do with my new PC.

However, seeing as I have little experience with building PCs, I'd like to know your input on this config. Are all the parts compatible? Are there any places I can cut corners to save a few dollars? What should I know about building PCs in general? Are there any components I'm neglecting to include? (For the record, I know that I have not included an OS in my config. If anyone can direct me to a suitable OS, that would be fantastic. I'd rather not download one illegally, as I'm not a big fan of piracy.) If I wanted to include an SSD for my OS, what size should I use, and what brand?

All feedback and suggestions are welcome! Please ask any questions if I haven't been clear enough.
