Question Economic Changes in 6.0 with Merged AHs

With the AHs being merged in 6.0, there will now be twice of everything on most servers, meaning... deflation! So good news! Servers with ridicously priced goods will be relieved as another faction of competition joins the fray. Servers where items sell for too little will get a boost as another faction of players comes in, creating new demand!

Since charting MoP items will be unreliable (as they will be irrelevant in WoD; therefore value will change), let's watch items that don't change over time. Like the Battered Hilt: currently runs for 10k on Moon Guard, Horde; 15k on Alliance side. The merging of the AHs should more or less bring it down to 10k or so. Perhaps less? Overall; should make it vastly easier for new players who've just hit their first 7 digit sum to actually start getting involved in the economy (two factions working means two factions of resources). Ofcourse; this is all assuming you live on a balanced server, but that's what the server merges going on are for, right?

    Your thoughts?

More competition and competitors should lead to lower prices.

The example of a battered hilt is a bad one because it's restricted by race and doesn't appear to be changing in wod. So the ally version would still be 15k and horde version 10k. For reasonably well balanced servers there probably won't be much change, perhaps a bit more undercutting. Prices for low demand items (tcg pets, mounts, crafted mounts, etc) will likely drop due to larger supply. For unbalanced realms there will probably be larger drops in prices of goods.

lets not forget the affect of gold sellers and the itemization / profession changes as well. all this stuff interacts.

separated Mass storage options for reagents and the horde of changes opening up bag spaces in general might mean people will want to buy in larger quantities than before

AH merge also means merged demand, so prices won't always deflate. The supply/demand ratio will change for most items, there is indeed a good chance that outliers (where s/d is extreme low or high) become less extreme.
