So I've been wondering, who would you rank as the most powerful spell caster across all fantasy universes? I thought it'd probably be hard to compare as each caster has different magics, and different foes to vanquish, but still, what would be your choice? My list consists of Raistlin Majere, Gandalf, Rand al'Thor , Belgarath the Sorcerer or Medivh.
Let's not consider Gods, Titans, or anything of the sorts here, just humans (or well, humanoids if u can think of any).
My ranking would be:
1. Raistlin. I mean, the dude very nearly killed a god, and would have won too had he not been distracted. He also created life, of sorts.
2. Medivh.
3. Belgarath.
4. Rand.
5. Gandalf.
What do you think? Have I left any powerful spell-slinger out?

Constantine, Dresden, and Strange, as mentioned before, are all extremely powerful sorcerers, more powerful than the ones listed in the OP.

I'd have difficulty seeing even Raistlin taking on Icarium. Anomander Rake, maybe.

I'd definitely say Dr.Strange, but didn't he lose at some point or something? I swore Doctor Doom once claimed he could easily take that title from him if he wanted to. Originally Posted by Tradewind

Ah ok, I'm probably just remembering it wrong, although Doom is pretty strong too but all quick searches I can't confirm if he actually qualifies as a spell user or not, there was one thing that said his mom was a witch or something, I dunno, comic books get confusing. I only know 3 on your list (I refuse to read anything by the Eddings'), but out of those I'd rank them Rand al'Thor, Gandalf, Medivh.
