Not to mention the fact that people in Africa are increasingly wary of people coming in from the west, since our military is there right now helping keep quarantine points in place and what-not. So I'm sure it's pretty difficult for a Western Journalist to get close to anything out there...

Whereas in the middle east there's pockets of friendly Kurdish fighters and what-not who journalists can embed themselves with... Also the middle east is not poor, so people have iphones and camcorders and shit out there so there's no shortage of decent quality amateur video to report on.
