    $1,500 Gaming Rig

    Hey all,

I am considering purchasing the following. Please note I already own a GPU (R9 280x) and SSD.

I've left open the option of cross-firing down the track, hence the large case and PSU.

Can anyone look over this and tell me if these parts are good and compatible or changes I should consider? I am quite a noob when it comes to building a PC.

    Thanks.

If its for gaming you don't really need the i7. If you for the i7 you don't need that much expensive cpu cooler. The i7 turbo's to 4.4 at stock.

You don't need 16gb of ram to game. 8gb is plenty and those ram stick you chose won't fit below the D15 unless you take the fins out. If you can adjust those you can almost fit the second R9 280X in the budget already.

There is a newer version of the Phantecs case, its similar but doesn't have the leds i believe.

Also 750w might come close with crossfire, those 280x are eating up alot. (you'll be close to 650-700 with everything at full load, so overclocks might have trouble)

So it can look like this if you want (ready for crossfire):

    Thanks for the replies.

It would mainly be used for gaming, streaming and programming (VMs) so it needs a little grunt.
