But that isn't the empire Talos created. The empire Talos built died with Martin Septim. Why shpuld nords not be allowed to govern their own country and be loyal to an empire that isn't theirs or Talos'?

Isn't a good chunk of the reason most follow the rebellion because the Empire gave up after a huge victory?
