Man convicted for 'illegal' drawings of underaged cartoons characters in the UK.

    source

I think this is complete bullshit, he got convicted for a harmless crime. Where do the draw the line anyway? How much skin needs to be shown for it to be illegal? How 'old' do they need to look? Why does nobody think of the fictional children!

    Thoughts on this?

So, apparently I can take a pen and paper and commit a sex crime. Wonder if that would be the case here in Finland as well.

I'd like to say that it's probably the best way for pedophiles that don't want to harm actual children to be able to get their rocks off, which disgusts me but they can't help the attraction any more than anyone else. My disgust over pedophiles makes it hard to have sympathy for him though. It seems they've never caught him with any pictures of actual children, and if that's because he doesn't want anything to do with that treatment of real children then kudos to him. Could just be an anime fetish thing though... Dunno. I wonder if having the images keeps him from wanting actual kids, or if it makes him more likely to go after one. If it's the former, then let him have the pictures and leave him alone.

    interesting.

i dont get all that manga/anime stuff its all a little weird to me (no offence.) but this seems...odd. although it doesn't say much for his character and the thoughts he is clearly having, as long as he is not hurting anybody real, i don't think it should be punishable.

EDIT : im reminded of an episode of louis theroux when he was in a brothel, and there was a really young looking girl there, looked like 12. but was 21. and she got a lot of pedo'y types who would come there just for her. but after seeing it and hearing the madam talk, they can have whatever they want in their heads.. they are going to a legal brothel, and sleeping with somebody legal. so, whether they do it cos she looks 12 or not, they are doing it the right way, rather then hurting some poor innocent kid.

what i mean is, its wrong, and he needs help. but he didn't harm anybody. so it seems overkill

Will I be convicted of murder for playing shooters now? I thought the point of these laws where to protect actual people not be the thought police.

They were classified as prohibited images as they depicted young girls, some in school uniforms, some exposing themselves or taking part in sexual activity.
Odd, many VNs depict school girls yet are legally sold.

See this is exactly the problem. Trying to link paedophiles to animes/mangas is just absurd, maybe he just enjoys the pictures and that´s it?

Any way you look at it this is ridiculous, where´s the victim?

I might file a complaint for the statue of Michelangelo, indecent exposure.

Six years ago he was prosecuted for having “Tomb Raider-style” computer-generated pictures of fictional children.

They were so realistic, a jury convicted him on six counts of making “indecent pseudo-photographs” of children, which he had denied.
    "Tomb Raider -style", "realistic"?

Oh boy. So, basically, let's have a jury of one's "peers", when those "peers" have no clue about the world of animation and CGI.

I'm not defending the guy for making CGI pictures with kids having sex in them, but this jury needs to have their eyes and brains checked if they think something like that is "realistic".

I bet if you brought out an 80s cartoon, they'd go "oo, how realistic!"

So, being in possession of these pictures is illegal because they're distasteful? Because they'll make actual child exploitation seem acceptable?

They don't have a leg to stand on.

Taking PC to extreme degree is far more important than stopping for a second and applying logic and common sense in today's world.

I hope this was sarcastic, but probably not.
They said that about homosexuals too.

Oh God, it's this inflammatory (and false) comparison again.
