Metallica Performing live at Blizzcon- Huge step Up for the gaming world??!

    Hey,

I was thrilled and amused by reading that Metallica will be performing live at blizzcon... I remember 1st time i saw them they had a stadium filled up with 50.000 fans so I guess its a pretty big band.

That moves the gaming world even closer to what it should be.

It is a big thing for me and big news.

Really happy even though I dont get to see them.

Metallica is one of the largest names in Metal History. They are kind of a big deal.

There were kind of a big deal.

They're rapidly falling towards KISS levels or relevance, however.

Were kind of a big deal. They seem about as relevant now as Aerosmith.

Were kind of a big deal. Their relevance has plummeted to kool and the gang levels though.

    Damnit yougaize.

EDIT: Also, Metallica is like... the McDonalds of Metal.

McDonalds is the biggest name in restaurant history, doesn't mean you're a foodie if you spend your money there.

Maybe it's a big deal to the people who like that noise they call "music". Most of us real gamers could give less of a shit whether or not some band is playing at some gaming convention. Real gamers just care about quality games being made for us to play.

It seems for something Blizzard related, considering that 2 of their 3 main IP franchises involve mideival themes, they should get some good easy listening gothic metal there. Like Tristania.

Did they spend the gnome hunter money on hiring Metallica?

Thank you for speaking on behalf of all "real gamers".

OT: Nice addition to the panel i guess.

INB4 so there's where they spend all of our money; this will cost a raid tier; etc...

Too bad the Anaheim Convention Center is not made for concerts and it will sounds like absolute SHIT like it does every year. Saw the Foo Fighters concert there during BlizzCon 2012 and the sound was just awful.

I think Blizzard had to go get Metallica to play blizzcon because there isn't really anything great to talk about this year? Another diablo or wow expansion? I don't really care about starcraft, heros of the storm or hearthstone. Metallica's first four albums were awesome.

Which Metallica songs would fit the themes of Blizzcon the most?

    Personally I think:

    Phantom Lord
    Seek and Destroy
    Metal Militia
    Disposable Heroes
    Damage Inc
    Battery
    Creeping Death
    Fight Fire With Fire

Were a big deal when a hefty chuck of people on these forums weren't even born yet.

And it's not like they're not getting a huge check for it.

For a right amount of zeros they'll play at your birthday party.

So no, i don't see it as something meaningful to a gaming community.

After watching their documentary, I lost all respect for them.

I never knew the most "metal mother fuckers" in the industry acted like 14 year old children with trust funds.

^Obviously they are going to go for something easy listening and generic that non fans will at least feel, so they'll start playing the opening guitar riff in nothing else matters, when suddenly they realize that the battle.net downloader uses peer2peer file sharing protocols, and they'll go crazy and raze the whole place, and that will be Blizzcon 2014.

Meh, I probably won't go to any end concert again. The sound usually sucks, and having to sit through their joke of a company band isn't worth it, really. As soon as the concert starts is usually the best time to go hit up the bars in Anaheim anyway.
