MMO where you can really adventure?

You know like those classic rpg adventures where you travel across the lands, find epic loot, battle fearsome monsters, and then arrive somewhere and do it again? Any MMO's actually get this feeling? Mortal Online kind of has it but I kinda wanna play a more stable game... MO is buggy... thats being nice

I'm gettin back into wow rn in hope that EQN wont dissapoint, and I've played a lot of MMO's, but I'm willing to try them again. Btw I NEED pvp and I like superhero games... RIP CoH

Archage. Pvp is more or less forced from level 30, it's got same-faction killing available in the world and a vast world and OCEAN to explore. I'd suggest you try it out.

However, I've done all those things in WoW without a problem and WoD promises even more, only it doesn't have the ocean...but I'm willing to forsake that in order to get away from forced PVP. ^^

Any space-based MMO will have a much larger degree of exploration than anything planet side but the drawback being that, in some cases, it's a whole lot of nothing...but that's kind of the point of space. Also, no monsters. Just other pilots. Eve, Elite Dangerous, and Star Citizen being the examples in this case.

Everquest seems like the last great 'hurrah' from a truly expansive planet based world but that's old. Not sure what the new 'biggest world' is though.
A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of colored ribbon.

huh maybe I should get those last 6 levels to 30...

Also I dunno about exploration in WoW... While stuff DOES seem pretty, it still has a themepark-style adventure. You run through interesting enough looking areas, but basically the same challenges wherever you go. its not like you can just find some ill dungeon to explore and get some cool loot at the end, and fight people on the way there... But then again I don't personally know of any games that fit that, save DaoC, but I missed its prime and I'm not into the whole "needing bots to follow you to be effective" thing.

I'm currently playing WoW until I can find another way to enjoy my time. I'm peeved that I came back to find out that even more abilities were taken away though. Hopefully WoD release adds some new skills. Also read my above reply

GW2 (without using the map) immediately comes to mind. It's basically built around exploration with its jumping puzzles, heart quests, vistas, etc.

Hmmm.. Interesting. Only have two problems that might be problems, 1. No intergrated PvP with that (I know of WvWvW, didn't lie it, if I wanted that I'd play ESO) 2. I've played a LOT of gw2 when it came out and a little more on occasional months, I've pretty much got bored of all the classes (at least the ones I like) but I have NEVER touched PvE, although my "main" is level 13. So could I still get a sense of wonder and progression from gw2?

I too am looking for such a MMO.

Sadly most MMOs nowadays follow the WoW template where you are lead around by the nose. Player Agency isn't in their dictionary.
Internet forums are more for circlejerking (patting each other on the back) than actual discussion (exchange and analysis of information and points of view). Took me long enough to realise ...

I would advise Elder scrolls Online with addons that disable all pointers from the UI. It is a game that has a lot of places to explore and can even be played in first person mode if you have interest in that.

... until you do it once and realize the game is actually terrible.

Archeage is the closet thing that exists right now, otherwise just play WoD until the real 3rd Gen games come out. I'm waiting for EQ:N too.

Blizz says they'll keep it going another 10 years at least so definitely that long. They made Australian servers at last to earn my renewed loyalty.
    Paladin Bash has spoken.

I would've said GW2 as well. But if you got bored at level 13, it's pretty pointless to continue.

GW2 (while lacking on the PVE department) had the best adventure-leveling experience and PvP of all mmos - imo.

Wow used to satisfy that for me, but now it feels less like adventure and more like a long walking commute in an over crowded inner city.

As far as MMOs go, I can wholeheartedly recommend FF 11. It is a fun game with a great class system and a huge world. Also, it has been modified to be compatible with hardcore playing styles as well as casual.

I haven't played FF 14 yet due to system limitations, but I hear a lot of good things.

Finally, they are not MMOs, but the Elder Scroll RPGs and The Might & Magic RPGs, although dated, are a lot of fun and are massive in scope.

Besides characters floating, there was one more thing that made me hate GW2.
It was mainly the people praising the questing because "it isn't the same collect 10 bear asses" system. Guess what... it was the exact same shit.

I'd have to go with the others saying Archeage. But Archeage is also about team effort, finding that one guild who you can support and they support you? It is wonderful. My guild helped me craft my Merchant Ship, which we as a guild have used for trade runs, escorts, and more. The sheer amount of class combinations, wonderful looking armor without the over-the-top style WoW often has, and the vast word to explore.

Just yesterday I stumbled unto someone's "illegal" farm, which means it wasn't on public farms or a housing plot. I took their logs, grabbed a rare thunderstruck log(quite expensive material), and ran into the farmer. The farmer and I fought it out, I won and kept going until he returned with a couple of friends. After I died, I went to court as I was technically stealing another person's materials. The jury cleared me of my crimes, as most with jury duty will do if it pertains to "illegal" farms and went on my merry way. Gained about 500g worth of materials for exploring, fought off someone else, eventually died, faced the consequences, etc.

I honestly love a lot of ArcheAge, everything about it has been quite a blast. Healthy communities are encouraged, alliances formed, rivals made, friendships forged.

There is even a third faction, Pirates. Pirates are when either an East or West race gains 3k infamy and they become a part of the Pirate faction. This faction has their own island and becomes hostile to the other two. Seeing a crew of pirates heading towards your merchant ship carrying valuable supplies is quite a thrilling experience as you fight them off or try and flee.
