    Its not a surprise a country is doing well if even the lowest kind of worker is being paid a decent enough wage to live on.

    We don't have minimum wage in Denmark like you guys do. Wages are negotiated by the employer and the union. What we have is alot of union settlements that secure workers who are part of that settlement a certain wage.

    I'm aware of that. I'm trying to get the poster that I replied to stop and think for a moment. There are obvious upsides to higher minimum wages - that said, they're not magic, and there are drawbacks as well. Favoring a high minimum wage thing is an entirely reasonable position; acting like people that are against it are just idiots that have no knowledge of economics is not.

    this is really one of the things that the US needs to work on. a liveable minimum wage, and better healthcare. we do that, and we're even more the best than we already were.
