I went from a Steelseries Siberia v2 to a Corsair 1500. I'd recommend both, the latter more so.
    1) Load the amount of weight I would deadlift onto the bench
    2) Unrack
    3) Crank out 15 reps
    4) Be ashamed of constantly skipping leg day

Siberia v2 still has better sound.

Been using a Sennheiser PC360 myself for a few years now, sounds good. Think the G4ME ONE is the newer version of that.

Best headset i ever owned. It lasted the longest anyway and mic was shockingly clear. Ok sound quality was not the best from speakers but yeah it worked, it lived and it was cheap! £1 cant even get a fish for that.

If you also like listening to music or watching movies, consider getting normal (non-gaming) headphones + a cheap mic you can attach to your cord. Sound quality of even mid-range headphones is usually way better than what you get with the crap overpriced headsets marketed as "gaming".

    I went with AKG512 mk2 + the 5-buck Zalman mic, personally.

I'm using a http://www.plantronics.com/us/product/audio-646-dsp its getting close to 5 years old and still works like new. But if you want new stylish headphones that last 6 months get something you like in the 80-900 dollar range

Used and own both, and without a doubt the Corsair headset has better sound. My v2s now just live as a headset I use for my phone as the mic messed up.

I have the 780, basically the same thing. Best $80 I ever spent. Ive had it for 3-4 years, its still working like new.

7.1, Dolby, good plantronics eq software, excellent mic, comfy, intuitive on ear controls.

I've worked in call centers for 10+ years, I've used Motorola, Plantronics and a few off-brands. By far the Plantronics have always been the best quality sound wise as well as durability.

At this point I would never buy anything other than a Plantronics headset.

    I recommend the HyperX Cloud, they sound amazing for both gamming and multimedia, the quality build is rly decent, rly good mic and comfortable for long sesions. i also recommend getting a dedicated sound card like Asus Xonar U3, but if you got a 5.1 audio sistem then you can get something like Asus Xonar DG or Creative X-FI Surround Pro 5.1. In the end it doesnt rly matter if you buy a decent pair of headphones without having a a dedicated audio card, you will never hear them @ full capacity(quality), ofc there are some headphones that have audio intergrated, USB headphones, anyway i never liked 5.1/7.1 headphones, most of the time its just marketing, stereo sounds way better for both music and gaming, atleast i like it better :}

Trust me those aren't even remotely close to being top of the line cans either. They are just randomly overpriced.

    Basic headphones plus mic -
    http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica...580646&sr=1-11
    and
    http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1...+on+microphone

You can go to the m30x and get just fine quality for gaming as well.

Don't fall for 7.1 bullshit. That's all it is...bullshit. 7.1 has nothing to do with the hardware in those marketed headsets..it's all in the software you download after you purchase it.

Best bet for a headset would probably be
    http://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-G...ywords=headset

Check out some of the cheaper 20 dollar headsets on amazon as well. I heard SADES really hold up well and perform great. Of course the audio quality might not be in competition with items like Shure or Audio Technica but I am willing to bet they still sound better than Razer. I also have never really had a problem with logitech products and their headsets are very comfy. Head over to your local best buy if you have one around you or a microcenter and try on some headsets to make sure they are comfortable on your head as well.

The HyperX headset is actually pretty decent all things considered. It gives a nice sound for the money, and the build quality and features make it good value. The microphone is a bit so/so, about comparable to the Zalman ZM-MIC1 which has been recommend countless times as the "go to" cheap-o microphone for headphone users.

Powering the HyperX with my O2-ODAC gives it a bit more oomph, but they sound absolutely fine out of the box and are directly comparable to the Takstar Hi-2050 (they might even originate from the same original OEM in China, but that's just a vague guess based on almost absolutely nothing).

Bottom line: If you want a headset that gives you good value for your money the HyperX set is a good pick.
