    Create your own overwatch character

    So why dont we have some fun while we wait for overwatch. Lets create our own characters.

    Name: Bulletstorm
    Real name: Zander hale
    Age: 24
    Occupation: scientist and engineer
    Base of operation: unknown
    Affiliation: none
    Quote: "when all else fails fire more bullets."


    Abilities:
    Dual sub machine guns

    Rocket jump: uses his rocket boots to jump up ledges

    Wrist rockets: locks onto a target and fires rockets

    Bullet furry: the mini guns on his back rise to his shoulders and start firing at enemies.

    Note: i wrote this all on my phone so sorry that it looks sloppy and he lore is tiny. I will fix it when i get on the computer later.

    I could come up with new characters for days. Some that I'd like to see include - an unassuming old lady who knows martial arts; another intelligent animal like a wolf, but unlike Winston they can't talk; a female character who isn't slim and busty; Someone with fire powers, and they can use them to propel themselves across the map but in a very erratic manner, where you could fly into a wall and kill yourself. The character would have a very high skill cap; more villains and more omnics. Villain omnics, with sort of like an Ultron vibe.

    4. Whirlwind charge - charge towards an enemy then unleash a whirlwind of dancing blades killing everyone around you.

    Motto: Fight for peace, not for the annihilation of your enemy.
    Lore: Not much is known about Sin as she does not like to talk about her former life. What is known is that during the robot war she was a simple HR specialist for a random company. Bucharest, like many other cities, was hit hard by the war and soon the automatons started pouring out inside the city. The building she worked in was bombarded and it was starting to crumble but she was saved by her best friend. They both decided that it's best to leave the city and head towards the mountains, but before they could do that the frontline got to them. They were both thought how to use rifles and thrown on the front line for survival, as many around them were.
    They survived for a while and got quite good, but at one point they were on a narrow street fighting machines when one of them shot his rocket launcher and wrecked a building. The debris started falling on Sin's friend. She ran to save him, but could not get him out of the rubble path in time. She was also wounded in there and lost a her left arm and her left eye which she later replaced with robotic parts. While her friend did not die, he has been in a coma ever since. Sin still visits him at the hospital every month hoping he would one day wake up and everything could be better again but she has sworn she will never let others lose those they care about due to war, greed and ruin and she will fight for peace.

    Looks: an athletic woman with curly hair caught in a tail, a shield on her back and sword at her hip and her assault rifle in hand. She wears a battle-armour similar to the gandarmerie of white and black colours. Here's a link to how the gendarmerie looks:

    Yup, I thought it would be kind of ironic in a way, it's because she feels she has sinned in fighting for annihilation of the other side in the early days when she should have been fighting for peace, people doing that only made the war longer, the automatons, while machines, could think logic and could have been reasoned with.

    1. Poison Fumes: His fuminator gun spews out toxic gas poisoning enemies the longer it is applied.
    2. Teleport Pad: Throw the pad at an area for you to teleport to immediately.
    3. Shield Toss: Can toss up to 3 shields to targeted locations.
    4. Transform: Let your alter ego take over and transform into a robotic monster absorbing mass damage and encoding remaining shields from your Shield Toss surround you.

    His appearance: A cyborg. Half man, half robot. Normal height. When transformed he grows and his robotic parts take over replicating its perception of a human cyborg monstrosity. Wears ripped pants and a ruined lab coat.

    Lore:

    Growing up in London he suffered from split personality disorder. Spent his life becoming a professor trying to fix his disease. He was raided and nearly murdered by rebellious robots. When his apprentice found him, he used his background in science and surgery to fuse Stevenson's near lifeless body with cyborg parts. Awakened, Stevenson thought to be cured. But soon found his brain had a chip to help keep his mind together. But what really happened, was it split the second violent personality from his brain, into the chip. This did not cure him, but forced the cyborg side to gain a personality that may take over when the Professor has a episode or split personality trip. The second robot personality is on the hunt to kill the Professors assistant. The assistant was said to flee earth for more reasons than one. The second personality represents rage, his endless hunt for the assistant, which he often proclaims when he is transformed: "I'm coming for you Winston."

    Oddly enough i was just thinking about this a day or two ago.

    Name: Blackhawk
    Age: 31
    Real Name: Kolten Trine
    Occupation: Explorer

    Abilities:
    Combination Blades: Blackhawk carries two blades that can retract back into his suit, allowing to fire the laser pistols hidden within it.

    Mode Swap: Blackhawk changes the mode of his Combination Blades

    Disengage: Blackhawk stuns everyone nearby then leaps backwards taking with him a friendly character he stunned.

    Shockwave: Blackhawk slams the ground knocking everyone nearby off their feet. Enemies are also knocked backwards.

    Ultimate Assault Strike: Blackhawk jumps to a location and fires 3 shots. If he hits someone, he jumps at them and attacks them relentlessly for 3 seconds with his blades(this can only affect one person.) Any allies he hits are pushed backwards away from combat instead.

    Catchphrase: Unity Leads to Perfection.
    Kolten was a soldier in the Omnic Crisis, one of the best in his unit. During the second year of the war however, he lost both of his arms when a group of Omnics attacked the camp, killing nearly 20 people before being brought down. While in the hospital a messenger from the military came to him with a special request. Kolten had been selected to join project Blackhawk, a top secret military project where wounded soldiers who wanted to return to the battlefield were merged with a robotic suit that would allow them to the fight stronger then ever. He agreed and was connected with his suit. The project was a success and he along with the other fifty soldiers geared up to return to battle. Tragedy struck that night however when the facility was destroyed killing everyone but him. To honor his fallen friends, Kolten took on the name Blackhawk as his own an guided the other soldiers on the battlefield to victory. He was asked to join Overwatch and agreed. He left however when he discovered that they had become corrupt and no longer represented Unity, Harmony, and Justice to go explore the world and help others whenever possible. When rumors of Overwatch's return began to spread however, he made it his mission to bring them together once again.


    Sorry if the backstory is too long i wanna use the character in a short story I'm starting so I had a lot of stuff on him. There is another survivor of Project: Blackhawk but I'm not sure if i want to create him as an Overwatch character or not.

    Here's one I came up with over on the subreddit. Mostly word-for-word and focuses more on gameplay.

    Description: A mage-type character that wields water/ice.
    Role: Defense

    Health: 250
    Speed: Average

    Attacks & Abilities:

    Torrent [M1] - Single water projectiles that arc slightly. Similar to Zenyatta's M1. Low-ish damage.

    Arctic Bite [M2] - A shotgun-type blast of ice shards. Short range, slow fire rate. Medium to very high damage based on distance.

    Surf [SHIFT] - A "ride the waves" travel ability. Surf on a visible patch of generated water for a short distance. Turn direction with mouse. Causes knockback. Low damage. Can combo with Torrent and Arctic Bite.

    Boiling Geyser [E] - Create a geyser of boiling water at target location. Initial eruption causes damage and throws enemies skyward. Touching the geyser at any point inflicts a damage over time condition. Geyser is active for 5 seconds.

    Winter's Sanctuary [Q] - Shroud the surrounding area in a large but calm blizzard. Vision is slightly lowered. Enemies that enter the blizzard are slowed and take damage over time. Allies in the blizzard slowly regenerate health. Lasts 8 seconds.

    Playstyle: The intent here is to have a character that excels in defense but doesn't necessarily need to be a stationary powerhouse to do it. Instead, much of River's defense comes in the form of placeable area denial and disrupting enemy approach. Can deal very high damage up close and is rewarded for combining skills, but mostly focuses on applying DoT and keeping enemies away.

    - Torrent is a standard attack.

    - Arctic Bite is there largely to serve as the high damage ability. Decent on its own, but can also be fired at any point during the Surf animation, allowing River to close a gap, deal a big blow, and then knock them back. Requires timing to pull off - executing Arctic Bite just before they get knocked back is crucial.

    - Surf can only be activated on the ground. Its use is to close short gaps rather than give a defensive hero too much mobility. Knockback promotes point defense and disruption.

    - Boiling Geyser goes a long way in objective protection. Meant to deter enemy approach, this is another ability that opens juggle opportunities by causing a launch effect. Beyond that, it's an AoE that applies DoT.

    - Winter's Sancutary is a tricky one. I wanted a defensive ability that also matched River's style. It covers a slightly larger area than Winston's shield but doesn't actually act like a shield. Enemies can fire into the shroud but allies regen slowly. Enemies inside are slowed very slightly and take a stronger DoT than from Boiling Geyser. Can be summoned on a point or in a choke to disrupt and deter enemy activity.

    Biography : Afshin grew up on the southern shores of the Caspian sea, before the Omnic Crisis he was a military researcher working on new technology to replace the nearly-depleted fossil fuels. His work resulted in G-fuel : a gel-like substance that burns relentlessly when exposed to the oxygen in earth's atmosphere. Before the final work could be completed however the Omnic Crisis took the earth by surprise. the project was cancelled due to low funding and the lab was given to the Overwatch. Afshin began working with Overwatch with an utter bitterness but, as weeks passed on, he became more interested in Overwatch's core beliefs and what they stood for. Mage was the nickname given to him by his fellow researchers due to his tendency to keep a well-groomed long beard and due to the fires that broke out in his lab as a result of G-fuel mishandling. When the Overwatch was disbanded Afshin was invited by a small group of ex-overwatch members to join The Remnants : a group that is trying to reform Overwatch without the mistakes that eventually destroyed the first one. He relocated to a small secret facility in the Caspian Sea which is a floating Overwatch headquarters. Due to lack of manpower Afshin chose to become a field operator as well as a researcher, with Mage becoming his code name. Equipped with a gear which uses G-fuel, he has made sure his previous research would serve him well in the field.

    Description: Mage is a middle-age man sporting a classy mustache and a long groomed beard. He is equipped with a pair of Phoenix-Gauntlets. Using these gauntlets Mage can shoot fireballs (compressed G-fuel in shape of pellets) and create walls of flame in an instant (G-fuel sprayed in the air). Mage wears special fire-proof outfit, including a navy overcoat which shields him from any accidental fire damage inflicted to him by the Phoenix Gauntlets. He is also equipped with a pair of Thruster-boots, Mage uses these boots to make long jumps. in order to safely land and avoid breaking any bones the mage uses a special exoskeleton suit that reduces the landing impact. Mage powers his equipment via a small high-tech battery installed on the back of his exoskeleton suit. the exoskeleton is not a bulky power armor, it only provides him with boosted hydrolics capability. (imagine the exo suits from CoD:AW and the exo suits that we have today.)

    - Phoenix Gauntlets fire G-Fuel pellets, it was previously mentioned that G-fuel is a highly flammable substance that starts to burn quickly upon contacting the oxygen in the air. giving an impression that the mage is shooting "fireballs" from his hands.

    - G-fuel is also used in Mage's boots, it can create enough energy to propel him to the air by burning the special gel in small combustion engines located below the boots.

Phoenix Orb activates 2 seconds after hitting and attaching itself the targeted area. once Activated the Orb quickly flies up & slams itself into the nearest enemy, upon impact the Orb sprays a small amount of G-fuel towards the target, resulting in a small explosion on it's surface... the explosion mortally wounds the target, afterwards the Orb will, without delay, bounce off and slam into the next enemy and repeating the same pattern... the Orb hits 4 enemies in quick succession before losing power. if the enemy is covered behind an obstacle the orb hits the obstacle instead and seeks another enemy. (best way to counter the orb is to take cover quickly after spotting it.

    Playstyle:

    - Fireball is the standard attack, cooldown speed is slow. you have to time your mouse clicks so that the fireballs can cover eachother's delays. (left click, right click, left click, right click... )

    - Flashfire is good to clear a room of enemies especially if both mouse buttons are held. which causes Firewall when the buttons are unleashed.

    - Flashfire and Fireball can be used separately, Mage can cast Fireball with left click while holding right button to charge a flashfire. so that he can use to finish off enemies when they get too close.

    - Shift can be used to quickly get out of sticky situations OR make a fiery entry into a situation, or both.

    - Phoenix Orb can be used to break enemies out of entrenched positions. and to hit enemies who are not using cover. best used in big rooms.

    Mage is great at making a scene : he comes in, wreaks havoc, and then escapes before anyone can react. but once spotted he needs to quickly move out because he has a low healthpool and has zero defense capabilities. He also has weak long-range abilities meaning that in open maps he needs to take cover or he gets sniped out pretty easy. but Mage causes great damage at medium to short range, and most of his abilities are AoE, so he's great at clearing an area full of unsuspecting enemies.

    I like both of these but they also have (in my opinion ) the same problem, they use magic. Blizzard seems to have avoided using any magic whatsoever in this game and I personally like that. They aren't bad characters, they have great moves and interesting play styles I just kind of wanted to see it remain all technology.

    oh..ermm... I don't see how my character uses "magic" :P. He is mage only in name.

    EDIT : edited the post, to explain the fireball mechanism further. think I have to create a backstory about the gel, the idea itself needs alot of polishing.

    - Flashfire is good to clear a room of enemies especially if both mouse buttons are held. which causes Firewall when the buttons are unleashed.

    - Flashfire and Fireball can be used separately, Mage can cast Fireball with left click while holding right button to charge a flashfire. so that he can use to finish off enemies when they get too close.

    - Shift can be used to quickly get out of sticky situations OR make a fiery entry into a situation, or both.

    - Evasive Maneuvers can be used when Mage is approached by a melee attacker, or by an unsuspecting ranged attacker. Mage can quickly run away and attack the area he previously stood, which will most likely the place the enemy is moving to.

    - Phoenix Orb can be used to break enemies out of entrenched positions. and to hit enemies who are not using cover. best used in big rooms.

    Mage is great at making a scene : he comes in, wreaks havoc, and then escapes before anyone can react. but once spotted he needs to quickly move out because he has a low healthpool and has zero defense capabilities. He also has weak long-range abilities meaning that in open maps he needs to take cover or he gets sniped out pretty easy. but Mage causes great damage at medium to short range, and most of his abilities are AoE, so he's great at clearing an area full of unsuspecting enemies.

    Funny you mention that - I brought this up on the subreddit myself. They definitely seem to be leaning on technology, and magic doesn't really exist in this universe so far. Although, I also highlighted unexplained abilities like Reaper being able to turn into shadowy smoke and vanish. I wonder if it's technology behind that.

    I only really came up with those abilities because I usually play mages first in anything even remotely RPG-ish or character-driven. Honestly, you could swap out the notion that those are natural powers with the notion that they're artificial. I'd just like to see at least a couple of characters that fight with the elements.

    Description: Human female cyborg. Head and torso are mostly organic, but arms and legs are completely replaced with machinery. Armed with a small modified shotgun, equipped with a silencer and a scope. Character has a very sleek, streamlined and hightech look.

    Role: Offensive/support

    Role description: Venom's primary function is to fight enemies one-on-one. She is very quick and agile, capable of climbing walls with ease and strike from the shadows, dealing high damage or helping her teammembers out by poisoning her foes and slowing them down and weakening ther ability to fight. She has very low health, so if confronted by more than one foe at a time she is at a clear disadvantage. Mainly a melee-type hero, she has few abilities for long-distance combat, and a small shotgun capable of zooming in. While the gun doesn't deal alot of damage on it's own, it's her only way to fight when not being nearby. The gun deals a higher amount of damage the closer to the target Venom is. The gun still doesn't do very much damage even when in close range, and so Venom's main strategy should be to use her abilities to fight.

    Speed: Fast

    Attacks & Abilities:

    Restorative nanobots (Passive ability)
    - Although Venom is very fragile, her organic and synthetic body is filled with nanosized robots, capable of rebuilding destroyed machinery and mend wounds. This means that unless Venom is exposed to a large amount of damage quickly, she can rebuild herself faster than any other hero, quickly going from being the hunted to become the hunter, fit and ready to strike anew.
    Explanation:Venom has less health than other heroes, but she restores health much faster aswell. Given the chance, a nearly dead Venom can very quickly regain health and go back to being a serious threat.

    Toxic injection (E) - When Venom is within melee range of a target, she injects a toxin stored within her arms through her fingertips. The toxin will deal damage over time, aswell as slow movement speed and camera rotation speed. Lasts 10 seconds. Toxic injection can stack up to 3 times. Short cooldown.

    Poison dart (mouse left pressing) *requires zooming in*
    - Venom uses her own robotic hand as a long-distance firearm, firing a dart with deadly poison. The dart deals high damage, and temporarily paralyzes the target. Paralyze lasts 2 seconds. Long cooldown.

    Adrenaline boost (Q) - Venom releases several different chemicals into her own system, increasing her running and climbing speed significantly. However, the different chemicals makes her unable to use her more complex machine functions, such as using other non-passive abilities for a short time. Medium cooldown.
    Explanation: Venom runs and climbs much faster than before, but she can't use any other non-passive abilities. She can still use her gun. Lasts 7 seconds. Medium cooldown.

    Ultimate ability: Strike from within (R)
    - Venom releases toxic gas from all all over her body, quickly creating a toxic smokescreen that blocks enemy sight, and slows all enemies that comes within the cloud's range. While within the toxic cloud, venom moves significantly faster, and all her abilities deal a higher amount of damage to the first enemy she damages from within the cloud. This bonus damage effect lasts 5 seconds. The smoke screen has a 3 meter radius, and lasts for 30 seconds. The slow debuff lasts indefinitely for enemies within the cloud, but disappears 3 seconds after leaving the cloud. Long cooldown.
    Explanation: Venom creates a green cloud that has a 3 meter radius from herself that last 30 seconds. The cloud blocks enemy sight, and all enemies within the cloud gets a slow debuff, that is permanent while within the cloud, but disappears 3 seconds after leaving it. Venom gets a similar effect, which increases her movement speed instead of slowing her. The first enemy that Venom attacks while both are inside the cloud suffers a 5 second debuff that increases all damage taken from Venom. Long cooldown.

    Biography:
    During the final days of the Omnic crisis, before humanity ultimately defeated the robots, a small team of machines infiltrated the Overwatch main facility for medical research. Their mission: To capture Angela Ziegler, codename: Mercy, and to steal her team's research to create new, terrifying bilogical weapons that could exterminate humanity for good, and end the war. In the end, while their mission to capture Mercy failed, they did manage to gather the data they were after, aswell as to capture seven of Overwatch's lead scientists within the medical field. Amongst these was Beatrice Thornbranch, one of Overwatch's most brilliant medical scientists working directly under Ziegler. However, as time was running out for the robots, they realized there was no time to finish developing the biological weapons they wanted, and instead reevaluated that the best course of action would be to plan for a future where humanity reigned supreme. This was the beginning of the Recreation project. The new goal was to create agents capable of surviving in a world dominated by humans, and in secret rebuild the robotic armies needed to take control of the planet. The Overwatch scientists, who until now had been held prisoners, were experimented on, fused with machinery to create machine agents capable of blending in amongst regular humans, and whose mission would be to disrupt and destroy humanity's leadership, while also prepare to rebuild the robots, and reignite the war. From the seven scientists, only one survived the process. Beatrice Thornbranch, now codenamed Venom, is a cyborg with a clear objective. More machine than human, her limbs are literally storages for some of the most terrifying poisons and artificially created toxins man or machine have ever created. While her robotic masters fell around her, she's been acting from the shadows, killing off human leaders that could one day become a hindrance to the recreation project. That her existance is even known to the humans is a blessing, but one frightening question remains: Is she working alone, or are there more agents that mankind still don't know about?
