I know most of it is covered but still:

    • Budget
    • Resolution
    • Games / Settings Desired
    • Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc)
    • Country
    • Parts that can be reused
    • Do you need an OS?
    • Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)?

My budget is off 600-800 bucks. The cheaper the better, but the fancier and good quality the better. I'm getting the preferred card from new egg so, I just want to know what parts to get and everything. I'll be playing wow in ultra if I can, that's what I want and mostly for my coding classes coming up. I live in the us and I need an os, not familiar with w8 but if I need it, I'll learn. I need all the peripherals except a mouse and headphones. Thanks!

I know I ask a lot but just wanted to be sure, so you need a monitor to be included in the $6-800 as well?

Yeah just ignore that, no one plays WoW (Ultra) on a $300 system.

You can get slightly better gaming performance assuming you're willing to overclock with a different CPU and motherboard, overall system performance will be lower though.

So, with an i3 cpu can be good for how many years you would say? 4-5? Then I can just upgrade when ever I can? Think I'm going for the i3 for now then upgrade later. What good keyboard I could also get with the first setup? Not too expensive less than 100$? I'm looking to get everything through new egg btw. Thanks!

All the links and pricing are from Newegg.

It will last you a few years no problem, there is no overclocking potential so it will start to fall off later on.

If you swap to one of the Z97 boards even with the i3 you can upgrade to the overclockable and faster i5-4690K later on.

    Hi Notarget,

Thank you for your information throughout this thread. It has been very useful. I'm also in a similar position as the OP, and I'm wondering if it's worth it to purchase a new pc over upgrading my current setup. This is my current setup: http://www.amazon.com/iBuyPower-GAME.../dp/B009NCMFOU

If you notice, the power supply is only 300 W, and the graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT610. The only thing I'm trying to do is play WoW on at least medium graphics. I don't need a mouse, keyboard, speakers, or anything like that- only the desktop itself. Currently I'm running WoW on the lowest settings possible and during WoD only getting 60 FPS in very few spots.

I hope this is enough information, and I would certainly appreciate any insight you may have. Thank you for your support.

    Best,
    Shafer
