the title pretty much says it all. are there any PvPers out there who can say that they are in a balanced battlegroup? what is the best group for alliance? horde? what is a really equal battlegroup? if there is one out there

Yep, they removed battlegroups to fix the issue of imbalance. Now the "backwater" bgs are no more and are just as competitive as the biggest ones that feature realms like KT, Tichondrius, Darkspear, Sargeras, and Bleeding Hollow (for US, dunno about EU, but I know Outland is popular...).
