Are proffession buildings necessary in the garrison?

You don't "Need" anything in the garrison. Everything gives some kind of benefit, though - so depending on what you want to do, you'll probably find some buildings are good to build to do it more efficiently. Want to only play "manage my followers"? Build a barrack, a war mill, and a salvage yard. Fuck the rest, don't need them. Want to craft your 640 gear? Build your profession huts, so you get your daily materials faster.

I've got the forge for a way to make some easy gold and engineering for the the fun items more than anything. I progress as a raider at a rate that doesn't justify the effort put into the forge for gear for myself and even others in my guild. I can really only speak on my experience but generally no building is necessary.
