    Black Friday Upgrades - UK

So I've finally decided to splash some cash and upgrade my 2500k and 6950 2gb set up to something a bit more shiney! The mobo/cpu combo is fairly simple and I've gone for this:

However I'm unsure of which graphics card to get, I was looking at the 980s, I'm aware they're overkill but hey, do it properly or not at all? I've seen some advertised in black Friday sales however I'm unsure of how good of a deals these actually are. I wasn't going to build until perhaps January, so my questions are. Should I buy now during the sales? And which grapics card?

Thanks in advance, budget isn't an issue as long it's good value/bank for buck. My main game at the moment is Rift. (MMORPG)

I've looked at some bundles: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=2913&catid=2915 But I'm 95% sure it's still cheaper just to mix and match myself? Also not looked at prices on i7 vs i5, if I wanted to stream a bit worth it at all?

If you want to pay for more for the board its fine but you could go for something a little cheaper. I will include a new power supply if yours is old just in case, simple cause new shiny parts would be better paired with one and an aftermarket cpu cooler if you need it. A gtx970 is fine for 1080p or even 1440p, usually 980 aint worth it and could be better to get a pair of 970s unless we are talking about 4k resolution.

Hi thanks for the reply, I actually have a H80i and fairly new Seasonic 650w Gold PSU. Also I play at 1440p, would you still recommend the GPU you have?

If a 970 is really enough to play at 1440p with Ultra then I'm happy with a 970. Although I guess it's more of the vram that makes a difference for 1440p?

Yes it is enough in most games. You might have to adjust some settings slightly keep a constant 60 FPS or close but it is a powerful card indeed.

The 980 I think is around 15% better performance but also upwards of ~60% more expensive. Only you can decide if that's worth it.
