Warcraft logs - LESS detailed than world of logs?

    Hello!

From what i've heard warcraftlogs is supposed to be a better version than world of logs is for logging.
However, today i tried looking it over and it just seems alot more... complex? I mean, thinking back it seemed that i could get the same(more?) info from WoL logs but it was alot easier to read?

I am however very new as i just used it for the first time 10 minutes ago so might be a littly nooby.

My problem: I'm trying to look up info on the imperator fight. I looked at resources, then at mana. So far so good.

I can easily see how much mana everyone gained.
One healer has 51k mana gained, the other has 170k. One has everburning candle, one does not.
I want to see WHAT gave them mana. In world of logs i would of been able to easily check that one healer gained 51000 mana from one source, channeling potion. And then go to the other healer and see what he gained from exactly and how much every source gave him.

Can i somehow check how much he gained from a specific source?
I guess i can go into events view and just look for every timestamp where he gained mana, look up the event to see how much and from what, then do that with every 'bump' on his mana in the event viewer... but that seems like alot more work than WoL offered.

Maybe your advanced combat logging isn't turned on?
I assume you're on this page:
    https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports...rces&spell=100

Just click their name. Takes you to this page for my priest:
    https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports...l=100&source=7

    Tadaaa.

Not even. You can literally click their name on the https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports...rces&spell=100 page in the table where it says raw mana gain/wasted/gain.

What i do find extremely stupid though is that you cant mouse hover the ability for the detailed info.. that's one reason enough to go to WoL imo. It's so inefficient.

You can mouse over the tooltip for spell info, the spell name for targeting info (if relevant) and when relevant over the amount or average columns for a crit/ms/normal/mscrit by min/max/avg/amount breakdown...what info exactly are you looking to get for the breakdown by mousing over?

I think he's asking for the ingame spell tooltip. Which you can get on the damage list for any individual in that raid. It's funny to see people not using the site properly and then claiming it's inefficient.

Perhaps i should have stated that i'm not as expierienced with Warcraft logs as i am with WoL. However being able to mouse hover a spell or ability at any point given and still be able to see the tooltip regardless of where you are in Warcraft Logs would make it slightly more efficient no? :-)
Some people don't posses super fast PC's, especially not when they have the game active and some other programs running, so having to switch pages every time for something so simple is kinda annoying.

At least that's what i expierienced from it.

@Zulandia As Slant said, i was hoping for the ingame spell tooltip

Just ask Khyra (here or @WarcraftLogs on Twitter), he's usually very fast to add good suggestions into Warcraft Logs.. while for the authors of World of Logs.. we all know they are known to vanish for a full year without updating anything.

Yup. At first, I was a little intimidated by warcraftlogs, but once you figure it out, it blows WoL out of the water.

Seriously. Someone bookmark this. If we go all the way from 6.0 to 7.0 and there is never a paid Garrison feature on the blizzard store, I will go to the store, purchase a hat and film myself eating it.

It's a little confusing after using WOL for so many years. But once you understand how things work people find they can access the data they want much faster.

WCL has had an Expression Editor for many months. Beginning to think I need to write a document that targets WoL users specifically to teach them where everything moved to.

This document is a little dated but:

    http://www.warcraftlogs.com/help/pins/

Query Pins = roughly equivalent to WoL's Log Browser.
Expression Pins = roughly equivalent to WoL's Expression Editor.

I keep hoping someone will volunteer to write more help pages, but nobody ever does.

It doesn't work. I tested it on several computers.

Yeah, I can understand that. I had to search a bit at first, too. But there is a consistent logic to WCL, once you understand it, one's as simple as the other.

This place is as good as any to ask questions, though. I'm sure between the posters in this thread we'll be able to answer most questions.

The Wowhead spell tooltip should show up everywhere there is a spell icon. If the tooltip is not working for you, let me know the specific example. As far as I know, they work everywhere.

So basically give me a specific report page link and I can investigate. Also what browser version/OS you're using.
