    24" IPS v 120Hz - WoW only.

Hi guys, I'm looking into getting a monitor for Christmas as the one I have now is pretty average; it's a meh TN panel with good MS rate (1ms). However, I'm currently unsure on whether it's worth me getting a 120hz monitor or a really nice 1080p (or 1200p if I change aspect ratio) IPS screen. I'll qualify that my Macbook currently has an IPS screen which I find a lot better than TN panels which to me generally look pretty bad.

What I am concerned with is that I may not get the most out of a 120hz monitor in a slower paced game like World of Warcraft. My frame rates in Mythic Raiding at Ultra is probably around 45 - 55 fps during boss encounters on ultra. Does this mean that 120hz will not affect me? Honestly I'm not even sure I would even notice the 'smoothness'. Right now the 60hz feels smooth to me and doesn't seem to be an issue which is why I'm perhaps leaning towards getting a nicer IPS panel. However, maybe its one of those experiences where you have to see a 120hz monitor in the flesh and you notice it then.

The monitors I'm currently looking at are:
    Dell U2414H - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-UltraSh...eywords=u2414h
    Dell U2415 (16:10 version) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-UltraSh...keywords=u2415
    Asus VG248QE http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-VG248QE.../dp/B00B19T7QC

    Personally I'd take a 60hz IPS panel over a 120hz TN panel.

    This!

tl;dr it's very very good. Especially when they only manage only 2 'cons' that are rather insignificant.

VG248QE isn't that good. High Hz's advantage in terms of performance mainly goes for fast pace twitchy type of games, WoW not being one of em.

That Eizo seems very tempting, especially as it has inbuilt speakers and a DVI port which is a plus as I'd have to use the Nvidia RGB tool for the Dell for a mini display port and the fact it has speakers will help as I play my PS4 when I'm not at Uni on my pc monitor.

It performs better than the U2414H and U2415 (though this is 1920x1200) and costs a tiny bit more than a U2414H with a load more features.

Seems the best option, just a little sceptical on the manufacturer/brand, I've never heard of them before.

They are actually top line. They're one of the best manufacturers for monitors making professional art for color critical work and medical equipment.
    They are literally top tier.

Fair enough! Probably explains why I haven't heard of them if they're not a mass produced/consumer brand.

Think I'll probably get the Eizo then. Thanks for your help!

Because I'm 22 years old and I buy my own stuff.
