End of Nagrand, end of Shadowmoon, end of Frostfire, end of Talador...

Quite a few tragic side quests as well. Particularly in Frostfire. Plus the more subtle impact of going back and seeing everything that Draenor lost.

It's actually been a very emotional questing experience.

The end quest in Shatt where Maraad dies. They spent so much time building him up in the pre-expansion videos, I certainly wasn't expecting it.

felt pretty sad during velen's message for us after the culmination of shadowmoon valley

I think the saddest thing i've seen in the expansion all revolves around Gara the wolf. I remember when I was leveling my first character through shadowmoon valley I saw this wolf ghost laying there and it said it was staring blankly at a grave and unresponsive. It was pretty saddening because it hits close to home, I know how bad animals can hurt when they lose someone just like people do. I was kind of irritated blizzard would put something that depressing in the game. I had no idea at the time gara was part of a big hunter to-do and capable of being tamed.

Weeks later when I found out gara was a tameable spirit beast, I went back and did all the shit needed to tame her and it's all kinda sad.

I was also very sad by the orc that died who had the pet wolf, and then the wolf comes to live at your garrison because it has nowhere else to go.

Not really a quest or anything, but those 2 orcs from different clans who were going to run away together and the guy ended up getting killed and the girl froze to death waiting on him was kinda sad.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. The message you get from him after he is already dead. That kind of thing is always kinda depressing.
I like ponies and I really don't care what you have to say about that.

I totally forgot about that! Definitely one of the cooler things in WoW.

I have to say the one where Maarad dies. I did not like that one bit *sniff*

This one hit me hard, but for a personal reason.

Years ago I adopted a (socialised) wolf at a wolf centre. A few years later I ended up volunteering there and had the privilege of taking her for walks, making a fuss of her and so on. She developed cancer and in her final weeks I came along each week with hotdogs for her as a special treat. The final day I saw her she'd lost interest in the hotdogs and I knew I wouldn't see her again. Even though there was nothing I could do, as I'd adopted her I felt I'd failed her. She was "So fast. So beautiful." too.

(I've kept the same hunter pet since I started 9 years ago - a white wolf named after my old adopted wolf).

Aside from that, the finale of Frostfire ridge with a mournful wolf pawing at rubble and the quest for Gara both tugged at my heartstrings. As did Snowpaw, but at least he's found a home in my garrison!

Certainly [An Old Friend]. That one hit me especially when you had to watch him go at the end of the quest chain... The music along with the actual scene was actually good. Although it would have been better if there was no words during the ghost scene, less is more I say, but that's just nit picking :P

Was going to say the same.

Blizz certainly hasn't been afraid to kill off major characters. After all this I just want to see their precious emo orc Garrosh die a horrible, slow and painful death.
