Abilities that trigger reaping will always try to convert the base rune type of the spell to a death rune first if available. If the priority runes are death runes, then the rune used will be converted (unless the rune used is unholy then it does shit all). Since festering strike uses blood + frost, 1 blood and 1 frost is priority for death runes. Also, if blood boil does not hit a target, reaping is not triggered at all.
Blood Boil
ddFFDU -> ddDFuU (Set frost rune to death)
bdDDDU -> ddDDuU (set blood rune to death)
bdFFDU -> ddFFuU (set blood rune to death)
ddddDU -> dddduU (sets nothing to death)
Summary:
Spending BB on an unholy rune will try to convert a blood rune first, then a frost rune, else nothing
Spending BB on a frost rune will try to convert a blood rune first, then a frost rune
blood > frost
Icy Touch
bbFFUU -> bbDFUU (sets frost to death)
bdddDU -> dddduU (sets blood to death)
ddddDU -> dddduU (sets nothing to death)
bbfdDU -> bbdduU (sets frost to death)
bDfdUU -> bbddUU (sets frost to death)
Summary:
Spending IT on a frost rune will turn it to a death rune
Spending IT on an unholy rune will try to convert a frost rune first, then a blood rune, else nothing
Spending IT on an blood rune will try to convert a frost rune first, then a blood rune
frost > blood
Festering Strike
bbDDUU -> bddfUU (sets 1 blood and 1 frost rune to death)
ddDDUU -> ddddUU (sets both frost runes to death)
ddFFDU -> dddDuU (sets 2 frost to death)
bbFFDU -> bddFuU (sets 1 frost and 1 blood to death)
DDffUU -> bdfdUU (1 blood 1 frost)
Summary:
Spending FS on an unholy rune and a frost rune will convert a frost rune and a blood rune first, then both frost runes
Spending FS on 2 frost runes will convert 1 frost rune and 1 blood rune, otherwise both frost runes
blood == frost (1 of each)
