    New Monitor - GW2765HT 27-Inch (1440 60hz) vs VG248QE 24-inch (1080 144hz)

I largely play WoW. I'm just not sure my card (GTX 770 2GB) can handle the 1440 of the BenQ and it will probably be at least 1.5 years before I upgrade that. Anyone have any advice?

Currently I'm on a crappy 24-inch TN 1080 60hz and able to run WoW on Ultra and have it look pretty nice with only a few dips in performance.

    Buy the new monitor!
When you get your new card, you'll be ready. You could also just save the money and get them at the same time

Personally I'd go with BenQ GW2765HT. The VG248QE is a very poor monitor other than price.

My vote goes to the BenQ as well, I'm really satisfied with mine and I'm running the 280X which is basically same performance as the 770.

What settings do you run WoW at and what kind of FPS do you get?

I don't play WoW anymore so I couldn't tell you but the 770 will have no issues at that resolution. When it comes to raiding with lots of spell effects, shadows, characters etc. the CPU is much more important.

Loaded up Guild Wars, did some questing with max settings and it kept around 60FPS the entire time. Went to a big city and with lots of people, open area, spells etc. I was seeing 40-60FPS. I imagine lowering the setting slightly, like shadows would make it run near 60 most of the time.

For anyone curious, I went with the GW2765HT which arrived today. I've had about an hour with it and am very pleased. FPS took a small hit, so I bumped down one setting under Ultra (which I could comfortably run at 1080p). The larger screen size, more clear text, and better colors more than make up for it.

Sorry, but $430 for a curved 27" (so too big for this resolution) 1080p monitor? Haha, no. Absolutely not. That's a rip off. Even if it's IPS/PLS... no.

    1440p is better.

    I agree.

If I had the money to throw around or wanted a curved monitor I would look more towards something like an ultrawide. Never had the pleasure of sitting in front of an ultrawide or curved screen myself so not really sure I would like it personally.

The more I see that, the more I want it. Maybe I'll just start hardcore saving up money...

Ah, who am I kidding. I can't stop buying beer even though I already have enough!

    Bad default set up.
    Can't be calibrated.
    Low Hz PWM.
    Heavy AG.
    Poor uniformity.
