i think the options in the poll weren't chose wisely ...

if you play WoW for the whole year you already pay about 140€ (12€ x 12months).

new releases also cost 50€ for pc and up to 70€ for consoles ....

i personally spend about 400€ a year on games ...
let's sum up what i bought this year alone - and be sure that i'll forget something ...

    WiiU:
    Bayonetta 1 & 2 on Release = 60€
    Mario Kart 8 on Release = 60€
Super Smash Bros. on Release = 60€
Hyrule Warriors on Release = 60€
    AC4: Black Flag on Sale = 15€
    Shovel Knight = 15€
Child of Light on Release = 20€ if I'm not mistaken

    PC:
    4 Months of WoW sub @12.99/month = 51,96€
1 WoW Character Transfer to another realm = 25 ? not sure out of my head
Batman: Arkham Origins on Sale = 8€
The Banner Saga on Sale = 5€
Valiant Hearts on Release = 20€ if I'm not mistaken
Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls on Release 30€

We're already over 400€ ... I better stop now before i regret that calculation

Wasn't sure if the poll was for just me or for what I spend in total for games...

    2 x WoW Subscriptions

    2 x FFXIV Subscriptions

Various games for the 3DS for myself and the kid.

Sims 3 Expansions for the kid - she isn't a fan of The Sims 4 either

Several Steam games at every Summer and Winter Sale

On average I'll spend about $2000 or so yearly for game and game related stuff.

Depends. My primary genres are JRPGs and Strategy games so those are in few numbers these days... in 2013 I bought 3 games in total during launch week and they were Ni No Kuni, FF14ARR and Tales of Xillia. 2014? I got 6 at launch because this year has seen a nice increase in quality Japanese games coming to the west.

But to answer the question in terms of money... if its a really good year then it'll a little under 300$. Otherwise it's probably just a little over 100$. This is without a WoW sub. Though if this was during the PS2 era then it would easily be 400$+ rofl.

Does buying a gaming computer count?

If so this year over 3500+ Probably closer to $4000

On a yearly basis, probably close to $500-$800

Besides WoW subs maybe 100-150~. Recently bought the newest pokemon game which is already 40-50 bucks. Bought a few small games costing 2-5 bucks a piece. Also bought Wildstar which was another 50-60 or so.

I'm really cautious when buying games nowadays especially since majority of the time I don't end up playing the game for long anyways so I'd rather wait for big discounts and such.

I'd say around the 300$ mark a year on average. That said I do get most of my offline games "for free".

Probably around $500 last year but I don't want to add it up. That's mainly because a bunch of games came out that I didn't want to wait to be in sales - like D3 Expansion, Wow expansion + subs, wildstar + subs, elder scrolls online + subs.... uhhh, too many MMOs get expensive. 2015 I'm not anticipating any subscription costs so should be less.

Other than WoW I usually spend $300-$400 on Steam for the sole purpose of stocking my library when there's Winter&Summer sales. Normal game consumption involves buying everything from one to a handful of new games I'd like to play. Some years can be awful for new and exciting titles.

In all I probably spend a minimum of 600 euros a year only counting games. New PC releases cost me €50-€60 and that piles up very fast if there happen to be several good releases. Collector's edition is almost always a waste of money cause they cost a whopping €100 set as default price and more often than not €120.

Came into the thread thinking too much then I saw he poll and I laughed.

I used too much money this year on computer games.
Want to cut back and spend them somewhere else.

So far I have cancelled following:

Eve online sub. (as long I enjoy wow I don't want to pay for eve just to have a queue going)
Unlimited Ninja (a flash game that is heavily pay to win. easily spent 1k$ on it this year)
World of tanks sub (while cheap, its all about those savings)

    Also decided to do following:

Limited choice of game (ie. only if I really really want them or they are on steam sale)

Until december 24th I have used this year about 3k$ on games
And my earnings this year has been 16274,22 before bills
So about 20% has gone to games.

I am not counting in computer parts then that price would rise even further considering i put out around 300$ alone this year on a gpu

I voted too much...never really thought about it so now just kind of realising how much I usually spend, tis a worrying amount indeed.

It doesn't seem unreasonable to me to buy 3 AAA titles per month. If so, that's roughly $180/mo, $2,160 per year. This is not including collector's, limited editions, dlc, subscription fees, or handheld gaming (3ds, vita, etc.)

Under 100. I only sub to WoW a couple months per year these days and pretty much everything else I buy is during Steam sales for less than 5 or 10 dollars each.

  17. #37
It depends on what's coming out I guess. I don't have any sub games anymore, and some games have my full attention for quite a while. I'd guess...100-200 maybe. Upto 300 if I really had to have a bunch of games as soon as they came out like this year

    In 2014 I bought:
    D3 Reaper of Souls
    Shadow of Mordor
    Dragon Age Inquisiton
    Wildstar + 3 month sub

    Injustice for 4.99
like 2 humble bundles at roughly $10 each
And then I spent a $20 steam gift card from my brother this Christmas.
