Multistrike is indeed a spell. Faerie dragon's effect is "can't be targeted by" not "is not affected by", meaning spells that don't actually target anything (AoE and random damage) can and will kill Faerie dragon.

Basically any AoE, cleave, or random damage kills Faerie Dragon/Spectral Knight. Arcane Missles/Explosion/Mad Bomber/etc etc etc, those can all hit them, but nothing specifically targeted.

Spell Immune minions can also be targetted by other minion nukes - eg Fire Ele, Archer, KotG.

The only things they stop are targetted card spells and Hero Powers

There is nothing ambiguous about Faerie Dragon's ability, it's very clearly worded. "Can't be targeted by Spells or Hero Powers."

That's all there is to it - if a spell or hero power requires you to pick a target, this unit is not a viable choice. Battlecries are neither spells nor hero powers. The same for deathrattles. AoE does not require you to pick a target. Neither do randomly targeted spells.

Simple rule of thumb: if you cast a spell that requires you to point a red arrow to a minion and click it, it won't work on Faerie Dragon.

Whirlwind works, as does Brawl (which doesn't deal damage), Blizzard, Flamestrike, Cone of Cold (if cast on adjacent minion), Fan of Knives, Explosive Sheep, Explosive Shot, I think Deadly Shot would as well? All it does is prevent you actually clicking a targeted spell on the minion, anything AoE or cleave or splash damage still applies.

And as mentioned, Shiv is targeted so no.

Yes. The aura only blocks targeting from spells and hero powers, and a battlecry is neither of those.

He doesn't target your faerie dragon with his hero power, he targets your faerie dragon with his face.

Shapeshift grants the hero attack, his hero targets your faerie dragon. Shapeshift never targeted the faerie dragon.
