    English Cuisine

Stereotypically, hell on earth would be the English in charge of cooking but I hope to dispel a couple of thoughts. Lets try to rack our thoughts together and find something good from the British Isles! (Yes, this technically includes wales, scotland, and ireland)

    Here, I'll start:

Shepard's pie with some leeks inside it. Quite literally the best "Holy crap, I have the munchies" dinner someone can have.

It's beef, cheese, mashed potatoes, and leeks.

    What's not to love!?

    Chicken Tikka Masala!

'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
    All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

That dish has ambiguous origins though as some people claim it came from an Indian restaurant but we'll let it pass.

    For now.

It's Scottish, invented in Glasgow by an Indian immigrant.

I dunno, italy has some really nice food going on over there but that's besides the point. We're trying to get good old England here a leg out and give them the proper recognition they deserve.

The joke I've heard about English cooking is you know it's not good when you put vinegar on something to make it taste better :P

That said, bread pudding is awesome. There's 252 pictures of it here...http://allrecipes.com/recipe/bread-pudding-ii/

Yorkshire pudding looks like really confused biscuits, I won't lie.

My grandmother made some of those at some point! It had the weirdest consistency but it certainly was better than nothing for desert.

I made a take on Shepard's Pie with fresh dungeness crab mashed potatoes a few weeks back. It was beyond delicious. I spent like $80 for a dinner at some "modern british" place or something when I was in London that did English food justice, but aside from that...it was all pretty much heavy unbalanced slop. "Meaty flavour" shouldn't be the only thing a dish has going for it.
