This is silly. It is nearly impossible for this to happen. You've been saying it for a long time too. Even WoW, which has been multi-threaded, still has one primary thread that must be run on a single core. This is because everything in that thread must happen in a specific order. This is why an intel Pentium G3258, which is a dual core chip that can be had for ~$60 will outperform top end AMD chips with 8 cores that cost over $150, in MMOs. It's individual cores are stronger than AMDs individual cores. Even in the AMD chip, 1-2 cores are doing all the work so stronger individual cores are better.

MMOs are just this way. They have to take the data they receive from the server and process it in a specific order. If it is not processed in order, you get other, much larger issues. Multi-core support is not the answer. Optimizing that thread is, however it's doubtful they can do much more than they have.

As Slipmat said, DX12 is rumored to have some effect on this, though even that is currently in hot debate by some. I do not think it will help MMOs much because it alleviates GPU stress by moving it to the CPU. The stress in most MMOs is not on the GPU but the CPU, so it won't do much. They will also have to add DX12 support into the game for it to make any difference at all.

Is Trion going to improve the game graphics or CPU usage in that regard, are you sure ?

You should tell them to present a detailed plan for this major transition, but, will they even try ?

If you like playing a Shaman build as a Cleric, good news for you then with hotfix #11

    RIFT 3.1: Hotfix #11 4/8/2015

    NA: 4/8/15 7:30 AM PDT
    EU: 4/9/15 1:00 AM GMT

    SOULS

    CLERIC

    INQUISITOR
    * Radical Colaescence: Fixed a bug that could cause this ability to fail to provide the Fanaticism buff if it was cast while the user already had 4 stacks of Life and Death Concord
Zealotry: Fixed a bug that caused this ability to only lose stacks on the first three critical hits when both Fanaticism and Radical Coalescence were used consecutively.
    - Zealotry will now always subtract a stack when an ability critically hits while Zealotry is present on the caster.

    SHAMAN

    * Courage of the Panther: The damage increase effect is now a 14% damage buff, up from 10%.
    * Cold Blooded: Now provides a 4% increase to damage dealt per talent point spent in this talent, up from 3% per talent point.
    * Deep Freeze:
    - Now has a 30 meter range.
    - Now requires an enemy target to be cast.
    - Now affects 5 targets-- your target and 4 others-- in a 10 meter radius around the primary target, changed from 50 targets in a 7 meter radius around the caster.
    - These changes allow Deep Freeze to be used more consistently on large enemies in PvE content, and eliminate some edge cases where it could have an outsized impact in chokepoints on PvP maps

    REAVER

    * Dire Corruption, Power Leech, and Flesh Rot are now classified as a diseases and as such can be cleansed.

That's why you play Rift with at least an i5 for strong single core use I guess.

I am guessing if they could have optimized the game in any meaningful way they would have already.
