It's great.

The problem is not being white. The problem is the myth of "white privilege" that has allowed white people to take a back seat to minorities in places of "fair employment." Its rare to see a white person in many entry level positions because those almost always get filled with minorities. The problem is that not all white people have the same level of privilege and when you really look at it the real privilege in this country is based on economic power not on minority status. A rich black couple has it 100x better than a poor white couple and most likely so does their children. However, instead of talking about that we keep the fight among minority status and non-minority status.

Tell yourself that when you get overlooked for a job simply because someone on the hiring committee has no other set qualifications for the job other than they not be white and male.

My partner's college is currently looking for a new president, and someone actually brought up what the search committee was doing to make sure that it was not a middle aged white male that got hired. That just pisses me off. It should be about hiring the best qualified candidate regardless and if that is a black lesbian transgendered person then she should be hired. If its a straight white Catholic male he should be hired. It should have nothing to do with demographic information.

Absolutely. It would just be nice if they actually followed the rules they do have. They post them then ignore them. I have seen countless threads locked where the moderators have no clue how it violates the rules section. I do 10 hours a week of volunteering to better the town's community, not because I have to, but because I truly believe in giving back to society. While other people my age get drunk and party I prefer to use my time productively.
I really want to make the UK and by extension the EU a better place for everyone, especially the future generations.
Instead the media calls me a threat to the british way of life, a leech and a criminal by nationalists and people with right wing views. It really hurts sometimes you know, I'm not make of iron.

Which is why I keep my opinions to myself most of the time when I speak to people, here and I usually try to avoid being asked where I'm from just so I don't have to see their facial expressions turn sour when I answer.

First off, that's not discrimination. Mods aren't closing your topics based on prejudice but b/c of forum rules, and I doubt people IRL are doing anything more than judging you based on your actions, not some pre-concieved prejudice which is completely different. You need to understand that yes you're free to act how you want (within the confines of the law) but people are also free to judge you for it.

As a christian Eastern European with vitiligo living in the UK i'd say discrimination is par of daily life. You get used to it after a while.
