Here are my guidelines if I was mod and created a Politics forum

If I was the moderator the the MMO champ forums, I would designate a politics forum. There would be a screening process to post in the politics forum because politics is a heated subject. In order to BEST screen for people who would be willing to discuss politics in a constructive fashion:

    1. You would have to state your party alignment.
    2. If you are a democrat, you would have to clearly point what you believe is a big government liberal program that failed because it was a big government liberal program and a private program would do better.
    3. If you are a conservative, you would have to clearly point to a private program that clearly failed for being a private program and a government program would do better.
    4. If you are a libertarian, you need to point out a government program you think clearly works.
    5. If you are a socialist, you need to clearly point out where socialism failed where a privatized system would be better.
    6. Add more depending upon which party you declare.
    7. If you don't declare a major party, you will not be allowed to post. That's a tough rule but politics is so heated that it must be done. I'm sorry.

If you cannot do these things, you will be branded a ZEALOT, and banned from the politics forum before you even begin posting there. I'm sorry if you are that far on one side, but it is NEEDED to do this to create a constructive politics forum.

If you DO follow these guidelines, then your stated position gets added to a sticky at the top of the thread for all to see.

The answers would be screen for people trying to find loopholes and those people would get banned as well, so don't try.

THAT is how to run a politics forum. The goal in running a politics forum is to eliminate ZEALOTS. This is the most efficient path to doing so. Currently in the OT we don't screen for this, so politics discussion is a madhouse and it is FOOLISH to debate politics here.

I base these guidelines on decades of experiences in political debates on the internet. This system screens for people who are willing to talk politics and willing to compromise. Its not perfect, it just needs to be done this way.

Meh, I don't know. It would take some of the fun out of it, getting to know people and all.

    I repeat:

    6. Add more depending upon which party you declare.

Who would be the one to decide if someones answer was right?

Your "years of participating in online politics" is not like "years of experience running a cattle farm"; just because you have experience "arguing about politics online" does not mean you are qualified to say what is right and wrong about someones politics.

Also, hope you look forward to recruiting 100+ new mods!
    You're a towel.

Cross-posting this from another thread isn't really a good idea, particularly as this kind of argument isn't going to lead to productive discussion. Locking this.
