Thread: New PSU

    New PSU

    Hi everyone.
I want to replace my current PSU, the brand is "LC power" (not great I know). Dunno the specs, not at home atm.
    My build:
    z97m anniversary
g3258 @ 4.0ghz(unable to oc further, afraid of my current psu)
    212 evo cooler
    hd 4830
    19'' asus monitor
    8gb ddr3 1333
    1 ssd 128gb 1 hdd 1tb(sata)
Case with 3 120 mm fans

    What I want:
A cheap PSU (40€ more or less), from here: http://novoatalho.pt/MixedProducts.a...9,763,982,1155

    Can't afford buying online atm.
Will buy prolly in March either a gtx750 or a r7 260x, so need a PSU that could cope with this upgrade as well (needs the 6-pin connector for the gpu).
Purpose of the build is to play mmorpgs, some dark souls 2 and some other non demanding games (until I get a new gpu).
Will try to increase oc cpu to 4.4-4.5ghz (temps sub 60º @ 4.0ghz with the 212 evo).

    Any idea of that list?

edit: I think my psu is this one: http://novoatalho.pt/ProductDetails....roductid=11347

edit2: can also buy a new psu from here: http://www.prinfor.pt/publico/273-fontes#filter=[page:1],[range:2000_4000]

edit3: with some search I found this list: http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/power-...101,51&sort=a9 . From the look of those prices, I'm better off buying online, which I wanted to avoid, but the price difference may be 2 strong. From that list, up to 40-50 euros, which is the best for my build?

edit4: was eyeing this particular psu: http://www.prinfor.pt/publico/fontes...-modular-.html
Even though it's above my current budget, would it manage my build + the future gpu (worst case is the ati r7 260x)?

Would be thankful for any input

That's the only supply I found worth a damn in that list. Which turns out to be the same one you've found.

    Ty for the reply.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Spent yesterday checking reviews and all of them were positive for that PSU.

So I'm bumping this to update: I can now go up to 80€, specs remain the same, will add either a gtx750 or a r7 260x later this month. http://novoatalho.pt/MixedProducts.a...3%2c982%2c1155

Take this XFX PSU, will be plenty.

Use the remaining cash on a 265, if that is possible.

    didn't understand the 2nd phrase. Use remaining 20€ on a 265? :|

edit: according to this website: http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
My recommended PSU wattage is 278w with my specs.
My recommended PSU wattage is 308w with my specs (+ a r7 260x).
My recommended PSU wattage is 250w with my specs (+ gtx750).

You havent bought the gpu yet, so use the remaining money on the gpu. Which might get you a 265, which performs a bit better than a 750ti and 260x.

And I linked that PSU, because it is one of the few ones within budget that are of good quality.

You call the the CX Series worth a damn? A lot of people around here say differently and that the QA on that line from Corsair sucks and the capacitors are low quality.

XFX is a good quality brand. Stick with this PSU.

Just to update on this, bought yesterday the xfx 550w.
1 thing I'm noticing is the lack of noise when stressing the cpu (the old psu would start to do a weird noise (ripple?)). That made me hesitate in OCing my cpu even more, something that I'll start doing now (gonna try to push it 4.4+ghz).
It's not modular, but after having this

    to this

makes a world of difference in case tidiness and airflow.

    Ty for all the advices

What capacitor brand they using? I'd like to know. I've replaced a good amount of capacitors in PSUs and it gets freakin annoying how often they go bad.

Samxon and Teapo. Teapo aren't too bad Samxon not so good.
I'd rather pay extra for having full Japanese caps for a PSU than others.
