I think the solution to issues such as the one in OP, will be solved as soon we start thinking of issues plaguing the black community, as issues plaguing America.

There was a study done several years ago (looking for it now) that blacks born to families not originally from the U.S. do better than blacks born to families inside the U.S. I'll find the study and post it - but I always thought that was interesting.
Buddy. I am Tschoerman...... What would I care about the University of IA, and Ames? lol
I'm long past the age thingy. I really have no clue, honestly.
We don't need WinnaVegas etc. We have a whole bunch of Casino's in CB....

Whats a Tschoermen? Are you one of the only people who have and remember their german lineage when german immigrants came to the state in the early 1800s?
Yeah, still seems like yesterday when the Isle of Capri opened up in Waterloo.
Cedar Rapids was also about to open a casino there, but the Isle put up tons of money for the Vote No campaign there.

African blacks and African American blacks are two entirely different groups of people.
The teacher who taught my Principles of Macroeconomics class is a Liberian immigrant and army veteran. He's the one who got me into the subject. We still keep in touch.

From the article. It seems we have a good idea why this is happening, pending greater investigation for definitive explanation.
The explanations for this phenomenon are varied, but largely hinge on many of the criticisms that already exist in regard to socioeconomics and race in the U.S. Economists cite lower educational attainment, higher rates of single-parent households, and geographic segregation as potential explanations for these trends. The latter determines not only what neighborhoods people live in, but often what types of schools children attend, which could play a role in hindering their educational and professional attainment later on. According to Reeves, "In terms of opportunity, there are still two Americas, divided by race."
Still, most economists lack a clear, definitive explanation for why, after reaching the middle class, many black American families quickly lose that status as their children fall behind.
lol.... nice wording....
No, my lineage is rather pure... 500yrs family line in the same city in Germany. I'm the rebel that left for that crazy adventure called USA.

'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

The endless fields are beautiful. They go from good to great when you see the Loess hills.

Another cool thing about Iowa,
Buxton Iowa was a mining colony from the late 1800s to the mid 1920s that had a diverse population. What made it noteworthy was that it had no overt segergation and there was no discrimination socially nor in schooling/housing.
When the town died and the black population saw the outside world, they were in for a rude awankening.

Obama is very well educated. He's articulate. Mild mannered. Likable. And a lot of people would kill him dead if they could. Obama is the most oreo black guy ever, and many white people still hate him. I'm convinced that part of the GOPs most recent success is simply racism against the nigger in chief.
I voted for the guy thinking it would help things. I was totally wrong. It made everything worse. It forced long dormant racism into the light of day.
And you wonder why its hard for other folks that aren't even as blessed as Obama?
the article highlights black kids and families, but ignores other races and even white families.
I think, at least in terms of proof, if you want to spearate out something like this and prove some kind of racist point or that other races have a higher privieldge rating or standpoint, then you have to do the research into showing that white kids have a better chance at "success" than other races.
The simple reason, could be as simple as our economy is in the shitter, and everyoen acorss the board is struggling to get ahead. And that white kids as just as likely to not do better than their parents did.
edit: hell, there's even a post on the off-topic forums on the front page who millenials make less than their parents or grandparents. Seems to me like this is not a race issue, but one outside that scope.

I think most people just take what they see on the interstate as how a whole state looks, which is sad because every state has some beautiful areas. Some noticeable ones in my area that you may or may not have seen in the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Marshes along the coast, I like Charlestons.
