"Black is not a colour" - in the context of this topic is not even one iota as clever as people seem to think it is. Why black looks black is not really that important...
Going to have to go with green but it really needs a texture, like a quilted maple guitar finish. Google "iguana burst les paul", the quilted ones are less striped and more ripple, look edible.
