Apparently this is a thing. It premiered on Monday night, real late on FXX with no promotion. Honestly it was pretty terrible, Ishmael was ok but Lews Therin was awful and the whole tone was just wrong IMO. It smacks of Red Eagle just trying to throw something together to keep the rights.

According to his widow, she was wanting the rights back to sell them to a more competant studio. Apparently many studios want this best selling series to make a tv show out of because they see the success of Game of Thrones and want in on that. Originally Posted by Haibara

I think with a pilot that bad it would be rude to call it anything OTHER than garbage. It would be rude to the memory of Robert Jordan to pretend this series is anything OTHER than trash. Yes, that's a typical tv show. A 30-minute show is actually about 20-23 minutes. An hour show is typically 40-45 minutes. Depending on the station, a 90 minute movie could be scheduled to run with 35-45 minutes of commercials. I'm on book 12 and this would be one series where I hope they cut out a lot of "story". I feel like it has taken 12 books (so far) to tell 7-8 books worth of plot.
