Oglaf (nsfw) had a much more elegant explanation for revealing armor imho.

Throughout history, it also worked well at distracting the opposing force.

The explanation is that men dominate the development teams and the player base.
Its not made to be practical, its made to be attractive and alluring.
Women don't actually wear that for defense IRL.

Why do so many people take their comic writing classes from Tim Buckley?
If you are particularly bold, you could use a Shiny Ditto. Do keep in mind though, this will infuriate your opponents due to Ditto's beauty. Please do not use Shiny Ditto. You have been warned.

WoW is very tame actually when it comes into female armor being revealing, of course there are exceptions such as Jade plate set and the like, but majority of things cover the ladies up nicely.

I would say that what you have made there is a very sexist and inappropriate post.

To ignore bisexuality and homosexuality entirely, and place blame squarely on men, regardless of their orientation, isn't just ignorant, it's mean and unfair.

Furthermore, the idea of exposing body parts that might be better off armored is a powerful psychological tactic that has its place on many battlefields, modern, past, fantastical, and in the realm of sporting events.

Greek soldiers from a variety of city states and different backgrounds could obtain armor of various levels of workmanship rather easily, due to the plentiful and easy to work nature of bronze. Time and time again, however, the function of armor is to turn or lessen the severity of strikes to the protected areas, if those areas are difficult to target by nature or movement, or by the desire of the attacker, the armor may be more hindrance than benefit.

Faced with, let's say Emmy Rossum, in a scale male bikini, I'm not going to have the heart to stick a sword through those flat, soft looking abs, oh no.

Instead I'd try to subdue her with less than destructive means, increasing my odds of getting to rub my face on her well-sculpted stomach. That would give her quite the advantage when at the merest sight of me, armored or unarmored, she'd likely be filled with violent revulsion.

armor is a fairly recent invention, that's why Conan wore basically a loin-cloth and nothing else

Depending on the culture, there's plenty. Even in western/european cultures, women wore armor, even if they werent soldiers or knights (royalty, wives of nobility).

The gist of it is, it doesnt look different than men's armor.

No breast imprints (that actually creates a weak point in the armor) or any of that nonsense.

and for pre-plate cultures/times, mail is mail is mail is mail. Anyone can wear it. It will look like exactly what it is.. a mail shirt.

to be fair, most examples of man armor from history were awfully revealing.

    Aztec Armor:

    Celtic Armor:

    Egyptian Armor:

    Indian Armor:

    Slavic Armor:

full armor = cumbersome = fight horseback or go home

    Bonus: 300 Armor

Warlorcs of Draenorc made me quit. You can't have my stuff.

if fantasy armor was "real" then the female armor would be very similar to the male armor. There are some culture who use "slutty" armor like the Celt, totally nude other than neck ring/ornaments, but that is because of practical reasons, keep your wealth on you, without clothes that can be pushed into a wound the risk of infection decreases dramatically.

There are one occasion you will have it, in parade/tournament armor, some historical parade/tournament armor have a "bulge" to the male sex organ, to show of his "potency" in a fantasy world that have female knights parade/tournament armor will probably have breast imprints but never on a true war armor.

The comic the OP linked is pretty funny. xD

OT: I never really put much thought into it. "Fantasy" is the keyword here, and that's good enough for me. I won't complain when the main character is a He-Man type with arms the size of tree trunks, who is wearing nothing but a loincloth and can benchpress two dump trucks (one in each hand). I also won't complain when the main character is a chick with porn star measurements (including tits that defy gravity) who can kung-fu an entire room of bad guys by herself and do acrobatic shit while wearing a stripper outfit with 8" heels.

I don't play fantasy games for realism, in other words.
