Upgrade time, baby! Looking for final input/compatibility check before I buy.

I posted a while back about a PC I wanted to build because I thought my PC had died due to a botched upgrade. Well, it turns out that it wasn't working because the graphics card was unplugged. However, it finally occurred to me that my computer is (now) eight years old and isn't going to last forever.

I am really nervous, but I'm excited. For the past few years, my experience with PC gaming has been limited to WoW (barely...), D3 and some other low-caliber titles. I have been stuck on console for years- my first non-Nintendo gaming experiences happened on PC and I'm ready to go back.

I have the funds at the ready and I am going to replace the old nag sitting under my desk. I am requesting final input and a check to see if I'm missing anything important.

If you want to stay at 900 you have to sacrifice gpu power and a cheaper monitor. Probably an R9 270(x).

Is the computer you installed it on still in service? If not, you can certainly re-use it. I do all the time. Tear down one machine and build another, re-install the copy of windows that was on old machine. As long as it is not running on more than one machine at a time, you are not breaking any rules or anything.

I think you'll find it hard to power a video card with it, when there's no PCI-E connector on that PSU unless you're sticking with the TI. You also only have 1 SATA power. So you're not going to be using a DVD burner. You also rather buy a new PSU...

I would return that case immediately. While 350W should be enough, but it does not leave much breathing room. Would want at least a 420W, preferably a 500W or 550W. Not to mention it not even having the proper connections. This is why you check before ordering parts, not after.

Ok, really? This is what I get for being impatient. I picked that smaller case because it had front USB ports on it. I had no clue it didn't have the right connections on it. So can I just get a different PSU?

most likely you can pull the PSU out and put another one in, yes.

Better to just get a case without the junk PSU though. Plenty of cases have front USB ports and are inexpensive.

I think I found a replacement... Any thoughts on this one? I have NOT bought yet, waiting for input first this time. It's pricy but it meets my needs.

That is WAY overpriced for a PSU.

Like i said, i'd send that case+PSU combo back and get a discreet case and PSU.

    Something like:

That same PSU is a little cheaper at Microcenter and has a $15 mail in rebate making it a $20 cheaper:

Just noticed as well, that case is a micro-ATX/mini-ITX case. Your motherboard is full sized ATX and will not fit in that case. You really have no choice but to return it at this point, unless you return the motherboard and buy a mATX motherboard. Though even at that, I can not find what size video card it can hold, so the GPU might not even fit.

Edit, yeah, the case width is 4 inches and the video cards width is 114mm which is over 4 inches. GPU will not fit in that case unless you leave the side off and have it sticking out.

Thank you all for your help. I decided to take your advice and return the case in favor of a better one that was recommended to me.. It's definitely going to delay the building of my PC by a few weeks, since I need to order another case and power supply, but when I do finally get it put together it's gonna be sweet.
