President Obama doesn't love America Says former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

At a private dinner in New York City Wednesday, former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani openly questioned the president's patriotism.

“I do not believe, and I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America,” Giuliani said during the dinner at the 21 Club, a former Prohibition-era speakeasy in midtown Manhattan. “He doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country.”

He added that Obama “seeks to criticize [America], more than uplift it, and doesn’t get the notion of American exceptionalism.”

Do you think our president criticizes our country to much?

Giuliani sure does come across as petulant. Does he really need Obama to love him?

I think Obama likes the country just fine.

Pretending issues dont exist to the public doesnt make them go away. Addressing them to the public helps make people realize they exist and should be fixed. SO, with all due respect to Giuliani, he can go kick rocks.

Excessive optimism also comes off as not genuine, and tretaing people like toddlers. I had more respect when James Carvile spoke at my school because he kept it real than his Republican counterpart who treated us all like 10 yera olds who didnt understand how government works.

Criticism is a good thing, and our country needs it for sure.
Giuliani just comes off as a cunt.

We don't do it enough, or to any other politician for that matter.

USA's politic is so weird. It feels like watching a comedy show.
Anyone that has passed the bar of the 16 years understand why criticism is healthy...

Surely this is a good quality in a Leader. A desire for change?

    Change isn't always good.

Change for change's sake is not always good.

Okay, a desire to improve then.

Over the years Democrats have been vulnerable in a couple of ways, 1. they often appear to hate the country, 2. they are often seen to be weak at defense.

Giuliani was just exploiting an old weakness, he wouldn't have done it if he were still in office but he has little to lose.

Once I saw Obama grab the Pumpkin pie instead of apple pie.

God, I bet he's a closet soccer fan too.

I view this as a test of person's ability to perceive reality. If you think someone who (1) devoted his life to public service of his country also (2) hates said country, you are a fool. The Republicans who actually believe both (1) and (2) can be true have allowed their biases and ideology to blind them to reality.

Less general backlash from attacking the person vs the policies.

And who decides it isn't working? The politicians or the citizens?
