    DfA Buff

    Hey guys with the buff being implemented today/tomorrow does it change much in which talent wee should choose or is it still pretty bad.

    And even if it were slightly better on sims, which it is not, it would probably still not be optimal to use most of the time considering the risk at which it puts you in a lot of encounters.

    There is no buff to DfA, but they did allegedly fix the whiffing. It's a lose control ability that stops your own autos, so it's not even close for PvE, it's not terrible for starting a PvP burst chain though, esp. for Assn (see Sativ build previously posted on these forums, search feature is your friend).

    There is indeed a DfA buff, they buffed the pulse damage by 50% and made DfA envenoms give a 50% longer envenom buff, up to 9 seconds plus from my dummy testing on the PTR whiffing appears to be fixed at least on a stationary target. I didn't test on a moving target because its hard to make those tests repeatable.

    That said the buffs aren't enough outside of some really contrived examples (big add waves spawning for a few seconds every 25 seconds) its hard to make DfA come out ahead of the stock talent for each spec. For assassination the big problem is envenom uptime is already through the roof, especially with the 4pc that you don't actually get appreciably more envenom uptime with DfA, in fact in some cases (primarily with 4pc) DfA actually results in less envenom uptime due to the higher energy cost.

    Also the white swing loss really isn't the problem from a raw dps perspective, they matter but the much larger issue is that DfA just costs too much for what it is. If Blizzard dropped the energy cost to 35 DfA would probably be just fine, white swing loss and all.

    Fiery is right as always, I was disregarding Envenom changes because I disregard Assn as a viable spec. The damage buff was only to the AoE splash which did no relevant damage to begin with. Interesting to know that it may be viable at higher DPE, however that would also be a PvP buff to Combat burst (new set bonus is going to be crazy good). By the way, for combat arena, KS > Vanish > DfA > Spree >MfD > Evis during redbuff is going to make ppl cry, glyph of disappearance will give 5cp crit DfA every minute for pressure.
