It's a major patch day... I will not be surprised if the realms are not stable for several days.

Blizzard issues with Patch Day's are amazingly terrible.

It's not a new raid or anything, so I wouldn't be surprised if it goes OK this week. There are a lot of changes though, so it's possible.

Yeah, but not by a ridiculous amount. Probably only 2-4 hours more than normal. I don't think there was enough game breaking changes this go round.

At least a few hours delay. If the realms are up when I get home from work at 5:30pm EST I will be surprised and pleased. I don't expect a big server bum rush though, since there isn't any new content people are returning for. New blood elf models could be an argument to the contrary though, since they are the most popular race.

Followed by rolling restarts cause the login servers get borked and/or huge lag cause they didn't figure something in with people tweeting from wow because the PTR is mostly for a "preview" rather than actually testing. At worst tomorrow will be an emergency maint.

i wonder if the servers will actually be stable then, like tommorow a lot of guilds will be raiding too. emergency maintenance may cause restarts/shutdowns to fix these patch problems.

I remember that day where they were supposed to do maintenance until 9:00 and they literally kept extending every two hours until 21:00

For patch 4.0 the servers were down for 20 hours (when 8 was scheduled).
