So it seems that some police departments are taking the whole "militarization" of their police force a bit far.

Not very homane is it?
Time...line? Time isn't made out of lines. It is made out of circles. That is why clocks are round. ~ Caboose
So if after a certain point that a police force becomes so militarized that we can start saying that a state is occupied?
Would've expected that kind of thing in Detroit, not Chicago.
Care to use a source that isn't the guardian?
Because googling/binging is so hard, amiright?

Oh look! Other sources!
"Why of course the people don't want war…. But, after all… it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."
Papers here are basically dismissing it as untrue.
However the Chicago policy are dealing with an unfortunate string of lawsuits dealing with coersions and beatings for confessions. Many many millions paid out in lawsuits -- so it's not unbelievable.
Why do I have to google a reliable source when it's the ops job to? The Guardian is known on this site to be trash. What makes it worse is the Op is a mod!

Those are the top 3 listed topics from bing.
So we have " The Atlantic", The New York Daily news (whose source is the guardian) and the slate. The rest of the page doesn't get any better with the next one being the dailynews.
Stop embarrassing yourself Mrbleedinggums

Both have their pros and cons for looking certain things up. I prefer the bing layout, while I use google for particular searches that bing won't show at the same satisfactory level and vice-versa.

In this case, it's not a matter of burden of proof; would you honestly believe something just because some random poster said something about it? Also you look at the very first page only? C'mon; anything within the first 7 pages is generally relevant, as a rule of thumb.

I guess i probably shouldn't argue with children though, if it's that embarrassing.

Again. IBTtimes is a copy and paste site. It copies articles from other sites. And msnbc is as bad as fox news. And this is the title of the msnbc page once you click the link "Chicago police deny British paper's claims about beatings, illegal detentions" .The Chicago tribune mentions the guardian as its source in the very link you provided. So I say again. Stop embarassing yourself. If you aren't even going to read what your linking i'm not going to talk to you anymore. Everything you have mentioned have copied and pasted from the guardian. It's clickbait.
If you're going to start a topic like the op did. Make sure your source is reliable, don't expect others to do the research for you like mrbleedgums does, and make sure you read other sources that you're linking to make sure their source isn't the same bad source the op has.
Btw. This story is an exclusive done by the guardian.

"In today’s America, conservatives who actually want to conserve are as rare as liberals who actually want to liberate. The once-significant language of an earlier era has had the meaning sucked right out of it, the better to serve as camouflage for a kleptocratic feeding frenzy in which both establishment parties participate with equal abandon" (Taking a break from the criminal, incompetent liars at the NSA, to bring you the above political observation, from The Archdruid Report.)
Geez, even the Boston Bomber got a lawyer. So constitution doesn't apply there?
